Leave suggestions how quarterback play can be improved

I have been reading comments about each quarterback's pros and cons, so here are my questions to you-
Who should be our starting quarterback?
What style of quarterback (or with what qualities)do you prefer for our starting quarterback to possess?
Should we use Russell Shepard? If yes, how often, what downs, and with how many yards to go?

I think Lee has gotten a horrible rap somewhat undeservedly, but I hate playing musical QB’s. JJ is the starter and should remain so. His problems are all correctable. He’s been extremely accurate and he does a good job of scrambling to create time. On the downside, he has shown no ability to go downfield and he has no pocket presence whatsoever. I think the coaches have made a conscious decision to not take risks at the expense of big plays with JJ, and the pendulum has swung too far to conservative. No, he isn’t throwing picks, but he’s now holidng the ball too much. JJ just needs to accept taking risks. I think the problems are more philosophical.
Take risks. Tell JJ it’s okay to make mistakes. He doesn’t always have to eat the ball.
Shep should be used whenever and at random intervals. I hate being too predictable.

first, we have to decide what style of offense do we want to run - pocket passing and running out of the I OR spread offense.
i don't think we know what we are supposed to be. Our personnel, IMO, says spread, but that's not what we do.
we do not challenge other teams with our speed on offense.

While I'm not a huge fan of a two QB rotation type situation, I definitely think there are times when a coaching staff needs to be able to see that a starter is being completely ineffective, and at least consider rotating the other guy in for a series or two.
The whole, "I don't want to destroy our young starter's psyche" argument seems so overplayed. What is keeping they guy in, while being completely ineffective, really doing to boost his psyche?
The fact that Miles would not put Lee in on at least one series Saturday night, when it was obvious to anyone in the stadium that JJ was just, for whatever reason, not getting it done, is quite telling.

leave JJ as the starter but do stuff that helps him/ plays to his strengths. cut down on the check with me plays. rollouts, bootlegs, draw plays (by both him and the RBs) to slow down the rush, zone reads, quick passes when we go 4 and 5 wide. max out the protection and go deep every now and then. eliminate him running the speed option.
yes use Shepard, as a wildcat QB and in the backfield with JJ on a couple plays.

IT ISN"T THE QB!!!!!! Last year he had a O line and played well!! If you can't run the ball and your QB doesn't have time to throw the ball what does that tell YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shortening JJ's drop backs will go a long way. He drops too deep and ends up right in the rush lanes of the DEs. Add that to it his not so stellar pocket awareness and you end up with a lot of sacks and a stagnant offense.

One small suggestion: more short slant passes. We had 2 good ones I can think of v. UGA and one I believe last Saturday. For some reason, we seem to abandon them quickly.

put shep in there just to see him scramble away from teh sacks that are becoming inevitable.

1. JJ drops back a bit too far
2. JJ stares down his primary receivers
3. JJ needs to fake to the secondary receivers now and then
4. JJ needs some protection from the OL
5. JJ needs better coaching
6. JJ does not need to run the 'Meercat' offense. Stop it.
7. JJ needs to develop confidence and take some risks.
8. JJ needs to throw the ball away rather than take the sack.

We need to improve our ability to throw the ball from a quarterback to a wide receiver down the field and complete more passes. If we do that, our passing game will be sure to improve.

1. JJ is not be developed as a good QB
2. Hire a top notch QB coach
3. OL Line play has to better coached
4. Lee needs at least another shot and not in mop
up time
5. rotate RS in with certain packages.
6. If things don't change hire a new OC

Best suggestion is to change the offensive coordinator. Read the following link for extra proof (as if you needed any more):

Second suggestion, why are there no coaches working with JJ while he's on the bench? Where is the head-set?
In the meantime, if you want JJ to avoid sacks, stop running ALL of your receivers 30 yards down the field giving the kid 0 options at the 5 yard, 10 yard, 15 yard area.
