Texas is and always was a "favorite." No way in hell that anybody else gets that second back. Today...geaux TCU - jump their asses in the BCS.

Couldn't have been said any better.
It would be a tremendous loss to the BCS - seeing such stupid match-ups in bowl games - But wait, what if one team who isn't supposed to be a part of the party crash the whole party!
Maybe so, but that is not what I am posing here. The play clock read 0:00 - Texas along the officiating got that second reinstated. Would a lesser ranked team, having the upset ability, get the same opportunity as Texas did.

This decision is directly tied to the officials and the efforts of the Texas football coach, plain and simple. Regardless if it was the correct call or not, what I am trying to say is that Nebraska would most probably not been given the benefit of the doubt had they ran the same exact play because:

They had no shot of going to the BCS Championship Game like Texas did.
Clock was stopped because it was Texas. Bottom line.
Face it, every conference has their favorites, not just the SEC. If Nebraska had the ball and ran the same play, I seriously doubt that the one second would be reinstated.
Let's just say this: Money talks, and the Big 12 was listening. Mack Brown lobbied, Miles did not (against Ole Miss).

Let's say Nebraska was down by 2 and had the exact play call last night: Would the second be reinstated?

I bet NOT. The SEC might have screwed us over this season, but the SEC is not the only conference that rigs the games.
I know that Texas will most probably play Alabama for the National Championship Game, but let's just say Texas "officially" lost last night's game.

Let's say TCU, a team from a non-automatic BCS Conference, plays Bama ande beats them, what does that do to the future of the BCS?

We have seen upsets before, namely Utah upsetting Bama last year in the Sugar Bowl and Boise beating Oklahoma a few years ago in the Fiesta. However, no non-automatic team has ever played in the BCS Championship Game.

What would happen if TCU gets there and beats Bama? Does that mean the BCS is on its way out eventually and a playoff system advanced? With Texas playing Bama in the Championship Game, the same ole' same ole' will continue.
Hello, I saw the replay many times from various sources. I just did not see the entire game.
Although I did not catch the game, I must say that the Texas name brand will probably get them into this game.

I am not an Alabama fan, but I will be for the National Championship game if Texas gets to play them. Texas lost the Big 12 Championship last night, but lobbying/cheating got that second back on the clock.

Let's say the shoe was on the other foot and Nebraska had the ball in the same scenario. Do you honestly think that second would go back on the clock? I don't think so.

The National Championship should be Alabama vs. TCU (I would be for TCU here - if TCU wins, you would see a playoff system evolve much faster).

But instead, we will probably get the Cheat Texas play Bama. I will be for Bama here.

Miles should play for an SEC championship and/or in a BCS bowl next year or pack his big arse hat up and go. That is all.

What are you smoking?
Spot on, I would say if he left before the Arkansas game, LSU would be in a better situation.
If Crowton leaves, what kind of OC will LSU be looking for, and do you have anyone in mind?
100%? 0%? or somewhere in the middle 50%?
How would it be if Miles became Offensive Coordinator, Quarterback Coach, and Head Coach all at the same time?

When is the last time that Miles had any play calling responsibilities?
quote:

Why would the head coach @ Washington do this?

As long as you pay him enough, he would do it. The head coach at Washington does not even come close to what our head coach is getting.
Not to be pessimistic (I try to be realistic about this), but what are you seeing from the coaching staff now that would make it change its philosophy and mentality going into next year to compete for and win the West, SEC or NC next year? All three are such a stretch at this point it's absolutely laughable to me!

For those people wanting to be optimistic, that's great. But how does Miles do it, and what make's you believe that he will do it?
quote:

i think as fans we are too hard on les miles. les miles has done a great job overall.

Sure, we are hard on Miles, but because of good reason. You can't continue to be talked about as a powerhouse if your team starts its downfall and does not pick itself back up.

Look at Bowden at Florida State. Think they are a powerhouse now? It was only a short time ago that they were THE SCHOOL in the state of Florida.
quote:

Whether people want to admit it or not, Saban was a legend here. He brought us a national title, and set us up to be a consistent national power. It's hard for any coach to come into a situation like the LSU job was, replacing someone like Nick Saban, and living up to fan expectations. Look anywhere.....Miami when Butch Davis left. Nebraska when Tom Osbourne left. Florida when Steve Spurrier left, etc...

Good point, but look at Florida. After Spurrier, they got Ron Zook (who will shortly be out of the Illinois job soon also), but they eventually found Urban Meyer. The same scenario can happen here, so have faith.
I was thinking that because Miles is half-heartedly taking responsibility for the Ole Miss debacle, do you think behind the scenes Crowton is getting the brunt of the blame and do you think he will be fired at season's end?

If so, when do you suspect this will be done and who do you think will be his replacement? Do you think Steve Sarkisian at Washington, Boise State's OC, or Charlie Weiss might be considered? Sure, you would have to pay these people $$$, but you would have to anyway if you are going to get somewhere. I think Charlie Weiss would be much more effective at being strickly an OC rather than head coach, sort of like he was at New England.

I guess a way to gauge if and when a possible replacement will be is to compare it to when Peveto/Mallory were let go and Chavis was signed. What month did that occur last year?
I know the talk of the week (and for weeks and years to come) will be about not only the last play call, but the entire last series vs. Ole Miss last week.

Two questions I pose to you all:
1. What would it take for the LSU fanbase to forgive Miles? I understand that this will plague him for a long time, but do you also take into consideration all of the wasted time outs for bad formations, etc that are burned early in each half because the team is not disciplined? Who should take the blame for those kinds of things?

2. If and once Miles leaves LSU (if ever, but hypothetically speaking), what will his stock be like? Sure, he has a national championship to his name, but will other prospective schools' decisions to consider Miles come back to his decisions in games like the Ole Miss game?
Quite a bit of posts state that Miles should go now, but there are also quite a few that are stating that he must win the SEC West next year to save his job.

Do you reallythink LSU has a chance? Alabama is only getting started with their renewed dynasty.
