is because Victor was limited by foul trouble and Jones continued to play Quarterman even though he went in the tank after his first couple minutes in the game.

Here is the crux of the problem

Most LSU "basketball fans" dont know basketball. Those of us who follow the game of basketball and know the game understand what Simmons is and what he is not at this point. He is an amazing talent with a skill set that WILL make him impossible to guard. Random yahoo's who dont follow LSU basketball have tuned in this year to see the #1 recruit. They expect to see Chris Jackson type scoring on the perimeter and Post play dominance to boot. He's not there yet from the perimeter and he knows it.

You people cant appreciate basketball IQ, cause you dont have any yourself. you tune in expecting to see something unreasonable and when you dont see it, you call him a bust. You people are pathetic. you know who you are.

back to the game, I agree with the OP. That combined with the fact the entire team went cold on their 16-3 run didnt help. aTm played a great second half and plays great halfcourt D. It was a loss to a good team on the road. We can recover.

To all the fans who will be gone next year when all the hype is gone, do us a favor and gtfo NOW

Stop with the excuses. This team has who some are calling the next LeBron and cannot win shite. Coach JJ is looking worse and worse as the season goes on since it is his fault that these players cannot get it together.

I can deal with most criticisms of the team and coaching, but the idea that LSU struggling to 11-7=Simmons is overrated is what drives me nuts.

We seldom have players execute in unison and it us frustrating. You see flashes from individuals that seem to mean we're very talented, but it's usually two steps forward for one player and three steps back for another.

Coaching seems to be an issue, but after 18 games maybe we need to accept the fact that this team isn't as good as we thought.

Appreciate the insight.
I haven't followed LSU Basketball since Darrel Mitchell left (personal friend)... and then I start hearing about how LSU has the #1 player in the nation and he is the next LeBron. So my initial thought was this guy can sink it from anywhere.
I didn't start watching this year until SEC play and I'm thinking, "Simmons isn't that good"
What I didn't know is that the media and locals built him up like he is already a 100% developed player. He still has much to learn and in time, I agree, he WILL be impossible to guard

I can accept that to a certain extent, but man some of the problems we're seeing are things we have seen throughout Johnny's tenure. The man was a middling coach in a bad conference when we hired him and he's pretty much the same thing here. You honestly cannot convince me a better coach would not be getting better results. Treloar backing out was really a tough blow.

no one has called Simmons a bust. He's got phenomenal ball skills for a big guy and is fluid in the open court and a great passer. These are rare skills.

However, he has some flaws that aren't hard to see. Nobody is expecting him to be "Chris Jackson on the perimeter." But he doesn't (yet) have a serviceable jump shot from 10 feet. That's a big problem when defenses can just sag way off to prevent penetration and dare him to shoot.

The hype machine was huge, so everything Simmons does will be examined in detail. Such is the life of the projected no. 1 pick.

But you can't complain about that when people point out deficiencies in his game. That comes with the territory of being the no. 1 recruit.

and you people called him the next lebron james when before he stepped on the court for his first game. I know basketball as much as you claim you do, and am saying Simmons isn't as great as advertised AT THE MOMENT. sure he will be great at some point, but I have yet to see it out of him. He's soft as charmin and plays with no emotion.

the media is a bunch of sheep. they just perpetuate the same narrative over and over and over. very rarely do you get an original thought.

guys like doug gotlieb and jay bilas are some of the few who breakdown the game and have a national perspective. Simmons translates to the next like no other since Lebron. Thats where the comparisons come from.

Most hear simmons and LBJ in the same sentence and expect to see that today. Its not reality.

The most disappointing part is that the tards who were out in full force last night wont be able to appreciate what simmons is because they are focused on what he isnt.

Magic said he's lebron like so I'll have to agree with him. Lebron year 1 and Ben year 1 of college are highly comparable.

True. I can say he doenst have a good jumpshot. thats fair criticism. This is about the jackasses that say he does not have generational talent and say he is a disappointment.

I'm simply tired of the bashing our university is taking for "ruining" their chances with a very average basketball player. Unless he gets 1on1 in the post or it's a fast break, Ben is a very average ball player. He scared to shoot, he can't create his own shots and he's lazy on the defensive end of the court.

22 of their first 25 points were on layups or dunks. Until we take pride in defending the rim, this will be a team that is vulnerable and will lose games because of it.
