Easy to say. But not the truth. The Texas roster is littered with kids from small towns. Robinson, Sinton, one of the best player to come out of Boerne in the last 6 or 7 years was at Texas. Aledo, lampassas. Etc.
even in small town as I teach and coach in one of the towns you mentioned, there are tons of kids who are Texas fans and go to Texas.

and with a massive state university and great BBQ.
Austin politics are weird as shite and it's way overpopulated, but it's a fun town.

Several of those are going to Texas. He's probably being heavily courted by Texas as well. There's rumors he had issues with his HC so him going to LSU and not following him to Texas make sense.
Didn’t hear that but the young kid that doesn’t have a dad is following him to UT. I believe it is their 3rd baseman.

Yes but their parents sure know the hatred of the rivalry and if those kids grew up in a die hard Tamu or Texas family I can promise you these young men has had it embedded into their brains growing up from their parents to hate the other.

I moved to the burbs of Austin about two years ago but I haven't found this to be true.

Would be friggin huge if that pans out to be true.

People just hear shite and repeat it. Austin and Central TX at large are way more conservative than people think.
