Notes from tonight's baseball Coaches Committee meeting
LSURussian, thanks for taking the time to give us this info! I really enjoyed the post.

great info, thanks Russian.
things I was most concerned with:
permanent batter's eye
do something with right field
intimidator
Sounds like they've got everything in the works to be complete by the start of this coming season

Thanks Russian. I saw Coach M on the Baton Rouge Press Club show on LPB 2 sometime in late july/august and he told the Blake Dean/Dream story. It was hilarious and surreal all at the same time. Coach M is a true asset to the university, I hope the rest of his career is at LSU.

quote:Agreed. My recount of the story does not do it justice. Coach M included comments about how it was spooky. He said Coach Grewe looked at him like he had lost it when he first told him about it.

The way he described Dean's reaction when Coach M pulled Dean out of the batter's box to tell him about the dream and to stand close to the plate kept me chuckling for 15 minutes.

What about a “pitch count” number on the scoreboard?
only if team honda can sponsor it

great info...thanks for the update!
This would be my only complaint, and I agree with above....leave the 6 flags in the outfield and put 6 new ones at the gates!

- "the administration" has vetoed a radar gun for the Box
bullshite, why would they veto that?
This has been brought up around the different conferences this past season. The talk is that some folks seem to think that the Gun being in place puts an unfair amount of pressure on the pitchers to throw very hard. Some seem to think this can cause irreparable damage to the throwing arm. Basically a bunch of pussies are making it politically incorrect for radar to be around these days at the college level and Paul is just trying to stay out of it and be "PC" by not having one around.

I've never like the intimidator, and moving it gives me sad face. When they do move it, you better believe that LSU will make Lamar put a digital board out there so that they can constantly change it with advertising. Just wait.

There is going to be a big Coke ad right in the middle of it...

personally i think they should replace the tiger with an animated tounces and whenever we score a run, he can sit up on his cute little feet and drink a coke then wink at the fans.

This thread has certainly taken an ugly turn.....

PM raised his hand and swore to the audience he was not crazy and he was telling the truth. He proceeded to say the night before he dreamed about that exact same game situation.
And FWIW I'm glad to hear they're putting their foot down on the radar guns. Those things are always inaccurate and lead to pitchers competing against the gun rather than against the batter.
