Florida. But I think it's closer than most think.

Because of LSU's budget crunch, they auctioned off everything at Alex Box field and hosting a coutry music fest in Tiger Stadium at the end of May just to make ends meet. From the concert, LSU gets $4 from each ticket sold plus concessions (which will include beer being sold)
Your a friend of mine but this is a dumb statement. Do you actually believe that they auctioned off items from the old Box because they are in a budget crunch? There isn't a baseball program in the country that wouldn't do the same if they actually had stuff that ppl want. You see when you are the most successful program in the last 20 years you can do these things. As far as the country music fest, I know for a fact your dead wrong. LSU had absolutely nothing to do with organizing this. LSU was approached by Quint Davis a promotor who actually started and runs the Jazz Fest in New Orleans. You say these things like LSU athletics and the school are on life support. Now Obama's economy has put LSU in a money crunch but so is everyone else. The fact still remains that LSU is one of only a very small number of schools that actually turn a good profit off of athletics.

You may lose your bet, but it's a mostly meaningless question. Assuming that both are in the top 25 of all college programs, the question becomes how effectively you spend your money.
More money doesn't solve a lot of problems. What are you buying with that money? Look at Miami. They get alot bang for the buck. Big donors aside, hopefully, you've got a great HC. If you don't, you're going to have major revenue problems for the entire department.

I dunno but after last night's show I'll always look at UF as the U's 'little brother" (or was that FL State? Probably both).

Along these lines, does anyone know how big the football program's piece of the pie is (versus other sports)? Just curious.

UF is double our size. USC has bigger pockets than all.

The real question is whether we want to compete with the top ten in revenue? If so, then no matter who the AD is, he will be accused of catering only to the rich as tickets, and premium seating continues to go up.
Spending the money on Baseball was wise. LSU is one of the few Baseball teams that actually make more than they spend. That comes from attendance. We pay. We pay premiums. We like our sports.

LSU couldnt even send its full band to an SEC game this year, yet they make more than FL?
Pretty sure this is a ticket availability issue and not a money issue.
LSU gives out less visiting tickets than any other SEC school. We return the favor by limiting the number of tickets you get for the Bama games. I think most other SEC schools do the same.

It's pretty damn close they are ranked right behind each other in this forbes article I'd say 7mil difference on 70mil plus rev. is pretty close.

From what I understand coming from an LSU admin is that LSU typically sends a pep band to all games and the full band to one sec game.
Because of funding LSU was not going to send a pep band to the Washington game. The fans were in an uproar about it so the administration decided to forgo the full band to an SEC game to allow a pep band to go to Seattle. As a result we had a pep band at all away games.

From LSUsports information:
After making cost reductions to three of the band's four trips to conference road games during the 2009 football season, LSU Athletics has decided to send a pep band to the game at the University of Washington.
The fact remains that the LSU Athletic Department has been asked to contribute more financially to the University this year than ever before in the wake of state budget cuts to higher education. With an increase in administrative fees levied on University auxiliaries rising from 3 percent to 5 percent, and an increase in student fees the athletic department must pay for its 450 student-athletes, LSU Athletics will be passing an additional $2.5 million to the University in the coming academic year. The athletic department must cut costs in various areas, and expenditures for band trips is one area that will be impacted.
LSU Athletics places a high value on the Tiger Band which is evidenced by the fact that the LSU Athletic Department funds the band at a higher rate than any other school in the Southeastern Conference. In addition, the Athletic Department has committed $4.5 million to the construction of a new band hall, making it the single largest contributor to that project.
LSU will be sending pep bands to each of the four road conference games in 2009. The band will bus to and from each location on the day of the game for three of those games with no hotel stay in order to facilitate the cost necessary to send a pep band to Washington. There will be no full band trip to any road game except a post-season bowl game. These measures will result in cost savings of $125,000 to $150,000 for the athletics program during the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
