As a pre-millennium graduate of Parkway, it will forever be weird to have SEC head coaches visiting the school. At least for football.

They’ve been having some dudes ever since Brandon Harris…

Curley was a year behind me. He was on the team that won state. He played at La. Tech. My sophomore year, Bo Harris (who made 2nd team all SEC in 73) and Jimmy Clayton signed with LSU. Jimmy was a QB who played a few games and never started. My junior year, Pat Mason who was rated #1 player in La., Roger Boogarts, David Hamn and Leon Thompson all sighed with LSU but only David and Leon played.

Graduated from Parkway in 1978. Played basketball and yes we were whipping boys.
Played against Deridder guarded Johnny Jones (LSU) and Mike Sanders (UCLA), they beat us pretty bad.
Played against Redemptorist guarded Howard Carter (LSU), Moon Griffon (Northeast/ULM), Keith Richard (ULM), they beat us bad. Funny story, I made a defensive rebound and Howard took the ball from me and jumped straight up and dunked the ball LOL.
Played against the Gullat brothers (ULM) at Haughton, they were pretty good.

Another funny story is I saved my money from cutting grass, working at Barksdale Commissary and washing dishes at the Officers Club so I could attend the basketball camps at Centenary and Bossier High (Larry Toms was a great Coach). Coach at Centenary was Larry Little and Robert Parish (7' 1" Center) and was one of our Coaches. We broke for lunch was really cool and Robert was sitting by himself so I said hell, I am going to sit by him. Robert had 6 glasses of milk lined up and 2 plates of food. Robert's knees were higher than the table. Robert's nickname was Chief and a very nice guy.

Robert was coaching us how to shoot free throws. He had perfect form with his arm parallel to the court and followed through with his wrist to sink the free throw. I kept hearing this scraping noise when he would shoot the ball. Then I noticed his fingernails were so long, that when he followed through they would scrape the ball. LOL

that nickname came from “One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest,” I played two games of hs bball against him, he played one half of each game and scored more points than our team did the entire game, on the CS subject, the first hs bball goal I scored was the first shot I took, against the Gators in their gym, all downhill from there
