Well, he is also saying that the buyout funds were NOT secured before BK was fired. Whoever made THAT decision needs to be fired immediately.... you absolutely never fire a coach with a contract like that without securing the funds FIRST
Yeah, mark me down as being skeptical that Landry is being fully truthful here

Landry is dumber than a bag of dicks. He doesn't realize it but he is sealing his fate at any kind of re election.

The state will always be the guarantor of every contract, because LSU (as a subdivision of the state of Louisiana) will always be a party to the contract. That's a pretty asinine statement for him to make, and he knows it. There's no way that you will ever have LSU as not being a guarantor to the contract, unless you want to absolve LSU of having to pay the $400,000 base salary and make TAF fully obligated for the contract.
Then it'll be the TAF Head Football Coach and not the LSU Football Coach.
He's trying to walk back the fact that he completely shite the bed in that press conference, and he knows that LSU only pays about $400,000 annually of the LSU head football coach's salary. The remainder of that money is paid by TAF, a private non-profit (this has been like this for years).
That's what I always thought also.
Again, not privileged to the legalities of how it all works.

I think that this is a 100% lie that was told by Landry, and he should really STFU, like yesterday.
No way Woodward would have canned Brian Kelly without having booster approval, because that's who's honestly running the show, the mega boosters that are going to pay the buyout.

yep, not the right forum, he 'tention hoin'
Embarrassingly unprofessional on his part, too. I have no issue with his criticism of tLSU AD nor his involvement, as the university has no current president. But to discuss the matter as he did in a public forum is completely inappropriate.
Trying to look like the big man, and he looked very small and petty.

Anyone with a modicum of sense knew that was the case.
No one wanted to hear it a few days ago, but the decision to fire BK Sunday was totally reactionary. There were no doubt discussions amongst donors about how whether or not they could get commitments together to fire BK at the end of the season (if need be). But NO ONE, no matter what they say, was expecting it to happen Sunday.
I sure what happen was Woodward, maybe at the behest of big time donors, went in on Sunday demanding certain staff changes be made immediately. BK likely told them to F-off, he didn't need anyone micromanaging his program. Tempers and egos flared on all sides, and LSU decided they were firing this MFer today! We'll figure out the finances later.

The single worse interview I may have ever heard. Awful beyond words.
