True but Lacy doesn't get that 15000 back. More likely it was a collateral bail. I once had an abnormally high bail and that's the route I went. Didn't cost me a cent aside from court fines. I knew I was going to court so no risk involved.

Pretty sure the negligent homicide charge carries a 10 year max sentence.
Is the fact that it also involves hit and run affect the amount of time he could receive?

Too bad they didn’t teach you how to read in the marines. That woulda been beneficial, especially in this situation

Let me just say this is incorrect.
Normal people process all the time with bondsmen ready. This wasn't special treatment for Lacy

normally, you pay 10% of the total bail.....and pay the balance if you don't show up as required for court.

man........this thread.........
Look, Lacy wasn't my favorite player. His drops and antics were the sole reasons. Fleeing the scene is cowardly. He should face the consequences of his actions, as should anyone who would have done the same or similar. But some of you are so overjoyed that something awful happened and who it happened to. The situation is awful. I feel for the family of the man who died. Making stupid jokes and posting a large image of him is really just tasteless. Be careful. You may be on the other side one day. Jim, I'd guess you are 53 years old, maybe its time to grow up.
And dont twist this......Lacy put himself in this position. I dont feel for him. I feel for the victim and the victims family. But to simply be shitty and hateful isnt the route.

Dunno the precise phrasing of LA law but I doubt the hit and run will actually stick.
He didn’t actually hit anyone. He just drove recklessly and caused another accident

Hopefully he gets 20 years

Lacy is 24 years old so why are some on here acting like he’s some 18-19 year who just got out of high school? Hell at 24 I had already done 5 years in the Marines.

Reckless people out here doing reckless things, injuring good people just trying to live. This ain’t the first time he drove reckless in that Charger - guaranteed. Immature and someone had to pay with their life.

Well wonder if he did not stop cause maybe he was an impaired driver? Then he would have to submit to drug and alcohol testing. Creative lawyer could come up with a defense like Hillary Clinton's I don't know I don't remember. I had the radio blaring and I was unaware that an accident had occurred. Maybe AI can come up with a believable excuse. OH i just remembered my car was stolen some dude took it for a joy ride.

The bond amount was set by the judge who issued the warrant for his arrest.
He was arrested for two charges: 1) Negligent Homicide and 2) Hit and Run involving a death. Neither of these charges are considered crimes of violence nor do either require an intent to kill or harm someone.
Negligent homicide is rarely charged in vehicle accident cases as the level of negligence needed is "criminal negligence," which is a much higher standard than ordinary negligence. Ordinary negligence is what is typically involved in vast majority of accident cases. "Criminal negligence" has also been compared to the "gross negligence" standard in civil cases. Most vehicular accident cases involving a death are charged as "vehicular homicide" which involves impairment like a DWI. There does not seem to be any evidence of impairment, at least that can be proven. The maximum sentence for negligent homicide is 5 years.
Hit and Run involving a death is the most serious charge he is facing and can receive up to 10 years. It only requires the State to prove that he was involved in or caused an accident that involved a death or serious bodily injury and he failed to stop, give his identity and render reasonable aid. If he previously had a DWI conviction, the sentence can be enhanced to 5 to 20.
It is up to the District Attorney to bring the formal charges. As indicated, the negligent homicide charge is harder to prove and has less exposure than the hit and run charge. In any event, the sentence for either charge is suspendable, which means he can be put on a felony probation. However, if he is convicted, it does not mean that he will get a suspended sentence. The judges in Lafourche are not "woke" judges and will be fair to all involved.
