We were going to Austin one weekend and we stopped at Buc-Ees in Bastrop which is like Lake Charles to Lafayette and everyone there was decked out in A&M gear going to the game.

Been to a game at Kyle Field. You have to admire their passion but those are the weirdest fricks on earth.

Kyle Field is pretty accessible in terms of parking and traffic, for one.

This highlights the root of the issue. When I was in school at the 80's and early 90's, it wasn't that hard to go to a game, and get in/out of the area.

Stadium capacity was about 80k, and we parked on campus. Lots of times I would park by the Law Center, sometimes down by the Ag Center. A few times over on the levee, but that seemed like a long walk...
There were a few times I even was able to get into the lots over by the Astronomy building, or over by Coates.
I never paid, once.

as I understand it now, people are parking damn near Tigerland and walking. Parking on or near campus is no longer allowed. You're just too far away, and the infrastructure of the roads just can't handle the additional 20K of people.
And a big issue is that with the river being a hard boundary, you just can't fix that part of it.

Going to games is great, but not everyone wants to put a 5 km walk into the process every time you go.

That cult participation is strong, for sure.

TS has lost some mystique, no doubt about it.

But

It can revive on certain occasions and Saturday will be one of those days.

There are many reasons to stay in your man cave and watch tv.
I choose to go to the games because I enjoy a day at LSU and a game in the stadium. To each his own. One note: I have not heard of 1 person perishing in the traffic due to lack of food or water. Considering how bad everyday traffic is in Baton Rouge, a hour wait to get out of the parking lot aint really dat bad.

Would you rather your team suck and your fans be awesome?

How hard is it for some of y’all to figure out that LSU nerfed that stadium themselves? I mean y’all keep on and on wondering why it’s not the same.
The band has been muzzled
Piped in music
Traffic
Shitty/expensive concessions
Tailgating restrictions
Pay to park
Ticket prices
Gate Nazis
Field product
OOC opponents.
Mike being parked

There’s a reason that stadium use to rock no matter the record… BECAUSE IT WAS FUN!

Sorry to say, and it hurts my heart, but it’s not fun like that anymore. It’s not the fans, the fans use to love the atmosphere. Thank LSU.

A lot of what you just posted is just plain false.

You can go to LSUsports.net and see where you can park on campus and where you can tailgate. A lot of it is still free. You can also pay if you wish, but it seems like you don't even want to pay for tickets.

Because their identity doesn't revolve solely around their football program. People who go there genuinely love the university not just for their football program but for other things too. That's why they have such a loyal fanbase. The economic environment in College Station is much better than BR, and I say that as a diehard LSU fan

Tiger Stadium might be good at night but it’s nothing special at day games. Kyle Field & Neyland Stadium are better that Tiger Stadium.

Enrollment for fall 2021 at Texas A&M University totaled 73,284

Look ?? at that number of students.
They let an entire half of the stadium be students. And then when you count all of the alumni, T-shirt, family members etc it’s a large population.

They just keep getting denied.
There's a big part of the answer right there...

TAMU generally allows for 35k - 37k students per game.

LSU's limit is usally 5000.

Other factors:
- logistics of getting in and out of BR vs. CS
- season tickets at TAMU are generally cheaper, but not by much enough to be a difference maker
- eye test: next time they scan the seatbacks in both stadiums, see who has an older demographic in those prime seats. This is related to TAMU having a bigger enrollment AND more economic opportunities within the state... i.e. their alumni consists of more younger, a higher volume of younger, individuals and a higher % that stay in the state for employment.

My Opinion: LSU needs 2 or 3 student sections and needs to be at least at 12k (on the low side) of students attending. Many Boosters don't use their tickets for a variety of reasons (myself included). It should be a requirement that any unused tickets from TAF members go to students (of LSU) and allow non-students to upgrade to your seats if revenue is an issue. Could use the ticket system that the NCAA put in place for Omaha.

ETA: of the one thing to typo... not 500, 5000

They don’t have the traffic LSU does. You can thank years of democrats being in control for the horrific traffic. Using funds intended for roads and infrastructure for their dumbass studies and other useless things like departments of diversity.

Have had tix in the NEZ since the 80’s. For whatever reasons, and they are many, TS is mediocre at best the way it stands today. Saturday will be awesome but that happens once every 2 or 3 years. I used to take friends all the time and loved watching them not believe the experience. I haven’t done that in years, hopefully over the upcoming years something will change.
