I, for one, am proud of the student section. I sat on the East side 35 yard line Saturday. I consider myself older, but damn, the people around me sat on their arse and never made a sound. Me and my kid screamed despite glare from the old lady in front of us. At least the student section made noise to confuse the Vols QB on snap counts. The rest of the stadium was embarrasingly quiet. Unless the Vols were near the student section, they had no problem with the "noise". Keep it up students, its the rest of the crowd that needs bashing!

It makes me sick what the student section has become. When I was there we still said "kick their arse" and "you suck" but everything was PG.

Now these idiots think inserting a curse word into everything is hilarious yet they wonder why all the songs keep getting banned. And in the meantime it's everyone else in the stadium who loves hearing Hey Baby, O We O, and Neck that has to suffer because of some drunk fratards' lack of intelligence. I'm almost ashamed I once sat in that section.

The same people bitching about the student section, are probably the same ones bitching about fans that are standing up and screaming in front of the whiners while they sit.

I don't get what the big deal is, "You suck"...Ohhh no.

Even the Texas student section says "eat shite" in one of their songs and the Tea Sippers don't stop playing that song.

But, Tiger Rag is.

I would hope they would stop banning songs, when they realize that's not the appropriate reaction to people trying to misapporpriate the songs for other purposes. If you have a problem with that, start making examples out of the offenders and stop taking the chickenshit approach of "banning" songs our band plays.

It is why we can never play Tiger Rag. They tried to bring it back a few years ago and the a-hole chants started all over again. We lost one of the songs that had been around forever because the student section couldn't stop saying a-hole. It will keep happening if we keep having dumbasses doing this.

But that's the thing...excited, oftentimes inebriated young people at a football game will never "watch their mouths"...so are we going to ban everything bc the work "a-hole" gives a few people a seizure? If you can't take the word "a-hole" then you probably do not function well in society. "a-hole" is not even banned on this message board.

"You suck" is pretty tame compared to prime time network TV.

Everyone is missing the point. If saying that stuff is the reason the band quits playing it, AND you want the band to play the songs, QUIT saying that stuff, whether is bad or not in your mind.

No, the point is the band should not have to quit playing it because adults have the temerity to shout something that hurts no one.

yes. And by the time she is old enough to take to a football game, I promise she will have heard curse words. I also promise she will not be using them herself.

It's not up to LSU to protect our children and be the nanny state we all fear and hate.

you can always tell the students in these threads when they try to justify their behavior.

Regardless of "old" or "young", you should already know how to act in public. Stop being a disrespectful frickhead.

Graduated from LSU in '09 so I don't think I'm considered "old" but I hate how the students are ruining cheers. I like Neck, I like Owee O, I also miss Tiger Rag...

The administration can stop it...they have something the students want: access to the game. If the administration really wanted to stop it, they should start a campaign letting students know if it continues they will be barred from attending a game (say McNeese or ULM) and their tickets will be sold to the general public.

It's a bit extreme, but it would certainly send a strong message

Right, but they have cut out songs the last few years and will continue to do so. They only thing we as fans can do is just not add those words to it.
