and you are cool with anything and everything being said at a football game around them? I brought my 8 yr old last Saturday, and glad we are far enough away from the students to not have to explain what 'suck a tiger dick' means.

"And beat the shite out of them" was around when I was a student between 2005 and 2009. Was always very sparse, though. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that personally, my issue with the student section isn't that they are crude, or "immature" or any other label you want to throw at them. Most people don't actually care about things in that much of a macro perspective. They don't want their kids to hear the language, etc, etc.
My issue is, well, a personal one. While I was a student, I saw us go from oooo weee ooo to you suck to you suck cock. Now it's not played at all. Alumni enjoy being able to look over at the student section and say "man, those were the days. I remember doing that exact same thing." But when you look over and "traditions" are changing every single year, there is no sense of permanency, no common thread that alumni can hold onto.
That said, that complaint is a selfish one. Students can obviously do what they want. But don't act like it's a bunch of cranky old people who don't like the fact that the student section is trading common threads through the years for this week's chuckle.

This does suck but it's not the majority of the student section doing it. My parents were by the Greek seats and heard it but I didn't really hear it by me in the student section.
But everyone who purely blames the student section for all the negativity is pretty ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the booing was louder outside the student section than in it a few weeks ago.

That's not going away for tiger rag. I was taught when I was like 7 that that was the a-hole song. "Ooohhhhhh ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ..... a-hole! a-hole!" That's been around for a good while.
As far as neck, I haven't heard that catching on. I sat in three different sections of the stadium on Saturday, all lower bowl, and never heard that once. I really don't think that's as big of a deal as people think.
Can we get a little "I can feel it coming in the air tonight" before a big defensive play or series?

What a retarded argument. I love how students get to this school and think they are big shite and know everything. And before you start with your grandpa comments, I'm still in grad school, so I'm not far removed from that age range. The sense of entitlement is absurd. No, if you piss off the students by saying "stop chanting suck a tigers dick," the odds are pretty high that those students wouldn't be contributing a great deal to LSU, post graduation (if they make it that far)

to be honest, a bigger turnoff for me taking me kids than the student section antics is the handful of Cretins around me who are constantly shouting angry FU** YOU profanity at our players and coaches. and this is even when we are winning. I don't understand how it is enjoyable for those people to even come. Lord knows it is not enjoyable for the rows around them to listen to it. But, that's another topic.

Since when do the students call the shots? It's time the administration and TAF make the students responsible for their behavior rather than taking away songs the rest of us like.
LSU has very low alumni support as is compared to the other SEC schools.
LSU students (not all, but the ones who defend their "right" to act like jackasses) act like spoiled little brats. They do what they want, how they want, regardless of how it makes them look to other Tiger fans and the nation during broadcasts.

No, I'm not cool with anything and everything. I don't find "suck a tiger dick" to be clever or funny. I don't like it, and it's way worse than saying "a-hole" in tiger rag. But I also think it's a losing effort to try to censor everything, and immature students will always come up with something else.

Either way it's pretty damn hypocritical to bitch about cursing and the chants and then make a comment like that. im a student and i have never really noticed the "new addition" to neck until tenn and i have to say when i heard all these people around me, i can honestly say i was embarrassed to be in the section. it pissed me off to no end because it isn't necessary at all. and the same people who yell this crap are the same people that complain about the band playing lady gaga, but if the students keep adding this stupid crap to the songs, the band has to play songs that student can edit. it reflects bad on the school and the students themselves. i know if i was a visiting fan and heard that, i would have been appalled.
even though neck isn't as traditional as tiger rag or hey baby, i have to admit when i go to away games and that song is played it is awesome to see all the fans stand up and wave their arms together even the "older" guys who have no idea what they are doing
