Someone in another thread said Alleva wrote a 4 page letter that was a lot more persuasive than Fulton's attorney.

Something else I believe hasn't been mentioned...after the suspension for Urban was handed down (3 games), someone tweeted out something to the effect of "mess with a drug test, get suspended two years...cover up for a wife beating sex addict, get suspended 3 games."

I'm almost positive I have that wrong but none-the-less people pointing out the ridiculous difference in punishments really made the NCAA look bad. I gotta think this played at least some part in the sudden reversal.

At any rate, I'm pumped for the kid and his family. By all accounts they're great people and could use some good news with this lengthy battle finally coming to a close.

the NCAA had nothing to do with the Meyer suspension. That was the university.

WOOOOOO!!! This will give LSU the best defensive backfield in the country, thus allowing Aranda to open the blitz playbook knowing he has two lockdown corners. We comin'.

They heard the appeal, renewed their awful decision, then later realized how hypocritical they were being and made it right. I’ll take it!

I think what probably happened was Joe Alleva threatened to go on a PR campaign drawing a comparison between Fulton getting 2 years for trying to fake a pee test for a drug they weren't even testing for and Urban Meyer harboring wife beaters.

Yeah right, what was I thinking?

They didn't have anything to do with it, but it is a bad look for the NCAA regardless, especially once the Fulton, Gurley, A.J. Green, etc. comparisons started making the rounds.

This also shows how stupid the NCAA appeals committee is. Fulton's attorney presented them with the same thing that Alleva did to the NCAA's interpretative staff.

Sorry if this has been answered but I have seen Fulton listed as a junior - is there something precluding you from taking a redshirt if you're suspended?
