Yes, the noted contrarian take of picking the....regional host.
Ok when LSU wins this weekend he’s going to look like a complete dumb frick. But defend away

Is he supposed to be a sportswriter or a homer? I heard him say on one podcast that LSU is 40% likely to win the Regional. Sounds reasonable to me.

What a jackass, picking a national seed in their own park
Ridiculous

Highly doubt that’s accurate but informing people what the odds are and actually picking your team to lose are different

No, he will have gotten a prediction wrong.

It's amazing that some of you are so far off the rails with your hate that simply not hating him is somehow a defense of him. If you think I'm defending him, it means you think what you're saying has enough merit to warrant a defense against it.
So far in this thread I've said that he doesn't rely on Vegas odds and that picking the regional host isn't a contrarian opinion. What a vociferous defense of him. Holy shite, I should really tone it down.

You are on the wrong side of the argument. I don’t hate him, I simply said the dude sucks at his job. Enough where I like Leah Vann better. Who is also terrible. So you suck at your job and now you’re going to pick against your team as the number 1 beat writer? Sounds like a plan

What argument? You're swinging at air.
If you're this worked up about a beat reporter picking against LSU, you probably need to re-evaluate some things.

He sounds like a clown.

I’m perfectly fine. Just don’t understand why we can’t get a good reporter to cover the best baseball program in the land. Yet you’re on here saying we shouldn’t criticize picking against our team. lol

You're in a thread that has people asking who subscribes to or reads newspapers anymore and wondering why a niche sport can't get (what you determine to be) a good reporter to cover it?

I didn't say you shouldn't criticize his pick. I said your criticism was stupid. There is a difference.

Well I disagree Hoss. Koki’s pick of UNC winning the regional is not only terrible but stupid GIVEN his occupation and how he’s doesn’t know anything about the team he’s picking.

I’m a former sports journalist before moving over to the news side (I’m retired). There’s certainly a lot more room to editorialize these days but as long as the reporter qualifies it as an opinion, and then offers supporting evidence as to how he/she came to that conclusion, there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t want my sports or news journalists to be homers, just optimistic. What I have a problem with is those like Guilbeau, who in my opinion, always comes off as trying to take down the Athletic Program. He’ll provide plenty of evidence to support his take but does little to provide balance. That falls too much into the Don Lemon category.
