Ole Miss game last year, we held them to 3 and out the first 2 drives. We scored a TD, then they rattled off an 18 play drive.
Vandy game- we drove for a FG, their first possession was 9 plays for a TD.
We drove for a TD, their second possession was 14 plays for a TD.
A&M's first 2 possessions were 6 plays for a TD, 10 plays for a TD.
Defense was fresh on all of those, they just got worked.

He was good at USC and Alabama but when he went out in his own at FAU and added some elements of that Briles Baylor offense to the scheme it really become awesome.

Yes, but with great offenses, defense usually is not as hard nosed and tough. We know we will have a great offense, hopefully Baker brings it!

Example (maybe the best, if you're old enough to remember it)- the Bills back in the 80's.
They WERE a dominant defense, with Bruce Clark, Shane Conlan, Cornelius Bennett, Darrel Talley etc. Probably on a par with the Saints (Dome Patrol) or the Giants with LT etc.
Jim Kelly came in, they ran the K Gun and became an explosive offense, and the defensive numbers dropped.
What happened was that they scored fast and often, defense back on the field quickly and the opposing offense was in near panic mode to keep up. So they'd get worn down.
Kiffin doesn't necessarily produce just quick-strike offenses, he can run the ball and eat clock too. I mentioned an 18 play drive vs LSU last year, that was the opposite of quick-strike. That was controlling the game.
The thing that gets your defense exposed is a bunch of 4 play 75 yd drives. That sounds great for offense, but the defense keeps going right back out over and over, and offenses can figure out where the holes are eventually.
Somebody downvoted, but it's true. The thing that kills defenses is a fast offensive possession. 3 and outs, and 2 play scores both. One gives you more margin for error, but they both throw the defense right back on the field.
A great offense can hold the ball for 15 plays, eat clock, put the other team in a bad spot regarding being able to respond, and then still finish it with a score. Doesn't have to be a shootout.
Remember the Saints' playoff game vs Philly with Payton as the coach? The 18 play, 12 minute drive that ate up most of the 4th quarter? That was great offense.

Take out the J. Daniels lead total offenses and man our offense has not been good. Will be nice to have a legit one year to year.That's why LSU went out and got kiffin.

Lane’s first season at Ole Miss they averaged over 39 ppg.
The fist game Joe Burrow played as a Tiger, against Miami in Jerry World, 2018 season. I was there and told a few of my friends we have a very good QB.
The first game of the 2019 season, I told folks, we really have an offense.
This season, will be much of the same.

Burrow was 11/24 (49%) for 140 yards and 0 TDs in that game. I don't know if any neutral observer would say that was "very good". I think more so shows just how bad the LSU QB play had been for several years prior and how desperate LSU fans were to see ANYTHING they could tab as "good" QB play. For the most part Joe was a very average SEC QB in 2018.

There is no reason to think otherwise. Kiffin has produced at every stop. It is obviously a very high bar of expectations. But given what he did for 6 years at Ole Miss it would be disappointing if LSU is not one of the top offenses in the SEC this year.

Truly an historically bad defense the year we had the objectively BEST offense in the country and Heisman winner.

It helped him to have Nick Brosette and Lanyard Fornette at RB, two of probably the worst tandem seen in years.
But this kind of told much of how it went!

The game was never in doubt, Joes check off at the line, allowing Brosette to cruise for 50 yards, told me, he was seeing what he needed to see.
