Yes, in this day and age there is no way a team could go 5-7(2-6) then, with a brand new coaching staff, 30+ transfers, nearly 50 new players overall, can be expected to turn things around so quickly. Especially with a new QB...

I'm more blown away at how many people STILL apply pre 2020 norms to college football. These aren't the days of having to patiently stack and develop HS recruiting classes. Teams can sign numerous good, experienced players every offseason. (Per accounts) LSU spent more money than anyone else doing so.

While I would not be calling for Kiffin's firing after just 6 games, the "it's year 1" excuse doesn't fly either. LSU is NOT going to have this roster next season. There will be multiple new players. So is this going to be the perpetual excuse every season?

A lot of people need to realize by the end of Kiffins tenure at ole Miss he was a little less reckless and found the happy medium. That’s the kiffin we need. I do agree my only complaint would be for him to be himself and don’t let the job change you! I do think that man will work until he finds the precise way he needs to be to succeed here.

That is a perfectly fine take. He should be held accountable for Saturday. My gripe is the people who have given up on him completely and are thinking he’s not right for the job.

Agreed. The only thing I can really knock him on is now spreading them out on 4th and running Sam right up the middle. I feel like that was way out of character and was an opportunity to gain massive confidence moving forward.

Even with an expensive portal you need to have a nucleus.

Quit using the Kentucky as a comparison of new coaches. This coach had us at home. If Kiffin played Kentucky at Tiger stadium he likely beats him by double digits. Those things matter if you watch the sec this year.

The 2025 Ole Miss team had 30 transfers.

It's starting QB, RB, top 3 WRs, 2 offensive linemen were 1st year transfers.

There were also multiple 1st year transfers on defense, including the guy who currently leads LSU in sacks.

That team went 11-1 and reached the CFP semifinals.

Well, unfortunately, LSU doesn't get to play all of its games at home. Kentucky's HC already has two road SEC wins.

I've lost track at this point. Is LSU "Next Year U"? Or "constant excuse U"?

I've never really liked many coaches here but Joey Freshwater is my guy! Will go to war for him win or lose. We gonna ride. People are idiots and want 15-0 right now after 6 games. It will come.

this is how I know you dont know shite about football. Money does not win games. Money fills a roster. Thats it. You also must think that because someone is ranked high in the portal that their good.

No, what it does mean is that the staff may not be good at evaluating players. Meaning, if the staff is good at evaluating players, the have the money, and they make the right in game decision, you can absolutely win in year one in today’s college football landscape.
Meaning, our staff is not as good as we thought they were, seems like evals were not great and the in-game decision making hasn’t been great in the road games.
Sounds like you don’t know shite about football.

Did will stein have to go get 50 new transfers? We had to rebuild full rooms due to BK being a clown.

We barely had a better record than UK last year.

Stein is also a whisker away from being 3-3 it took the two biggest chokers in the sec Beamer and Blake choker for him to not be 3-3.

This is more like 2007 bama, we have talent but we have to build the culture back. 22 was a mirage and when we look at it, really was fools gold due to schedule and a good break vs bama. Our program has been rudderless since 2019, Ed got lazy after the title and BK was lazy the whole time.

The portal helps turn around happen faster, but as Kirby pointed out the cig blue print isn’t going to work in the sec.

Should we have lost to Kentucky, no it shouldn’t happen. However, if we look at what Lane has been doing he is building back the program. This was never a 1 year quick back to titles, I’ll stand by if we don’t make playoffs next year it will be disappointing but Lane has spent enough time around Saban and is doing a lot of good things, I find it hard to see us not being successful in year 2 or 3.

It’s very similar to the first time Wade was here, year 1 he duct taped together then we were off to the races, it was a process and he made tweaks to it.

Lane is way more committed to being a winner than BK ever was, the guy is up at the facility all the time. There will be bumps in the road but I see no reason yet to believe Lane is all of a sudden going to be a failure.

Stop being a fanboy- he's not the 2nd coming of Christ. On the other hand, he's a pretty good coach, but not great, and certainly better than Kelly.

Reality is that he has made several crucial in game mistakes that have cost us dearly. One half a season does not a coach make, but if he loses this team this early in the year and goes 8-4, the criticism and pressure (after all the preening and attention he got pre-season), will be intense.

again, just because someone is in the portal does not mean they are good. Those are rankings based "on the portal". Evaluation or not, thats what available. Are these players in college football especially in the portal worth this type of money? Hell no. What your describing is less than 1 percent of a chance to win the title cause you spent the most money. Look at several teams that spent alot and they have 1 or 2 losses and look at alot of teams who didnt and are winning. The game of football has never changed and to win consistently does not involve money. What it takes to win still are untouched for 100 years and needed in order to do so. We arent able to secretly offer players that aren't in the portal like offer Trinidad and Lacy or a top lineman from osu, Wisconsin or Nebraska. We cant offer the top db from Miami, Texas or Wake forest. That would be illegal. Thats what idiots actually think we spend 40m on. Again just because a portal player is ranked high doesnt mean he is good. Seaton was always ranked high in the portal and he sucked all night last Saturday. It was terrible.

Learn the game of football and what is actually takes to win then get back to me. Money will never become prerequisite of what it takes to win and consistently be in the playoffs. Money will become the reason the playoffs become liquidated by allowing 32 teams eventually to make it. Nil was the worst thing to ever happen to college sports.

1. No one actually knows the real numbers
2. Other than an outlier here or there helped by schedule if you aren’t spending at 25-30 million you aren’t going to be competitive.
3. We got 50 players for whatever we actually did spend. We know Sam and Seaton make up a large amount together, but we also bought a entire new oline room for the most part, bought 2 backs, a full qb room, a full wr room other than 2 guys. Kiffin himself has said it and if we look at playoff teams, bringing in that many guys just isn’t going to get us sustained success. It’s pretty simple the goal should be roster spend is get about 15-20 recruits, then fill biggest holes with top portal guys and then portal some depth in. That’s what will create a program that competes every year. UGA isn’t out getting 50 guys, they are filling critical holes, Bama and Texas aren’t bringing in that volume they fill. If you look across the playoffs that’s what is getting in. shite even Aggy last year filled key holes to get better not buying an entire team and they also got an easy schedule.

If Lane was out playing golf and not building the culture he is working on I’d be pissed but outside of having Sam go brain dead, and trusting Baker we are ok.

Kentucky is very fortunate to not have 3 losses, and if the draw was for them to play that game in BR, 2 of their losses they would've been absolutely curb stomped. LSU on the other hand lost 2 extremely tough games with a combination of poor execution and bad luck - it happens. Don't take advantage of the disparate situations for both teams to push a narrative rooted in your own negative disposition.

He is also the person who we all wanted as coach who would not punt on fourth and one with the game on the line. For the Kentucky game he failed all LSU fans. The loss is all on Kiffin.

He took this job because he thought with our resources and our inflated dc he could trust his defense to do a simple job.

Sadly he found out you can’t trust Baker and I bet we go for it a lot more the rest of the year because Blake can’t be trusted with a lead and our punter is complete arse

He needs to have open try outs for punter. Like Miss State did a few years ago for a kicker.
