He's signing

@keithlaw: No. Absurd to see this as more than posturing. "@maxratliff13: @keithlaw safe to say he's not signing now?"

So much false hope up here

@KendallRogersPG: Dissected some Gausman quotes since that article. He certainly left door wide open to going pro. No surprise. Bet he signs. #Orioles #LSU

frick that shite.

He is slotted for 4.2 million but can get more if they want to pay a penalty. What is the mystery? Why wouldn't he be signed already?

Does he want 4.5?

No slots this year. They have a pool to spend on first ten picks.

ETA: Unless they've already spent all but 4.5 million on their other picks. Not sure.

Last college guy to go in the top 10 and not sign was Aaron Crow in 2008. He got picked 8th in '08 and went 12th in '09. Loux from A&M also didn't sign but it was for injury reasons.

Sorry, you're right but they do have penalties for big bonuses. I meant that i guess lol

LINK

quote:

"Teams may still hand out big bonuses, but severe penalties will provide a huge deterrent. If teams spend 5 percent over their allotted “slot” amount, they must pay a 75 percent tax. Teams that go over slot by 5 to 10 percent must pay a 75 percent tax and will lose a first-round pick. Teams that go over slot by 10 to 15 percent must pay a 100 percent tax and lose a first- and second-round pick. Teams that spend more than slot by 15 percent or more must pay a 100 percent tax and lose two first-round picks."

Wasn't there a few from UF that were picked top 20? I thought the SS was picked top 10?

You do realize that everyone here would run and bet against him returning for easy money right?

The hope is that where yesterday one would have thought him returning was 0%, if he has to posture this hard, now its like 5%. Something interesting to think about when no LSU sports are being played, understand?

OP needs to change the thread title big time. Even the Nola article linked said it is only a possibility.
