BRIAN KELLY: Well, look, the areas that are pretty clear -- you watched the game, right? We have to field the football, and we have to tackle in space. Those are clearly areas that we have to be able to get guys to perform at that level. Do we need to spend more time individually on things? Do we need to demand more from the individuals that are actually out there? There isn't a whole group of other guys that are ready to play. I mean, we're playing front line. We've got a starting linebackers on our punt return team, and we have one of our best receivers returning kickoff. It's not like we've got the JV team out there. These are our best guys, and we just have to stick with it and work at getting better.

Do we help our assistants like with special teams, find a way to get players better? I missed that part!

That was addressed in his 1st question. I guess you missed the link that I provided?

quote:

Q. You talked a lot about coaching it better. How do you self-scout that part of it when you are busy and your guys are busy trying to get the game plans ready for the next week, review the last week, et cetera? How much of it can you actually implement?

BRIAN KELLY: I think it's a lot more about recognizing your players and what you can do to put them in better positions as you get a chance to know your players even more.

I think that's where good coaching and good assessment comes in. Then, how are they retaining knowledge? Everybody learns differently. Is it walk-throughs? Is it whiteboard teaching? Is it more film study?

I think we have to look at our teaching. And if it's not being retained, it falls on us as coaches, teachers, and educators to make sure. It can't be, well, he is just not getting it. We have to look at and find out how can they get that and apply it and take it to the field?

So five games in, Kelly hasn’t figured out how to help his special teams coach get better? Still no answer to this!

TTT - But there are a whole group of other guys who are ready to coach special teams better, what’s your process for evaluating current staff?

What if they are being coached correctly but just not executing what they are being taught?

Nabors & Bech have muffed 2 punts and a kickoff...how does coaching negate that from happening? I have never heard of any coach using guys who don't have good hands to return kicks

You still haven’t said what YOU want him to say since you disagree with literally any response you have seen.

I’m still trying to see through a muddied “process to a process” BS to find out from Kelly, WTF if anyone is helping LSU’s special teams coach get better? Do you know, or do you prefer being members of the sheep?

Is it their job to placate your feelings on the matter? I agree they have been atrocious but I also understand that his job isn’t to make me feel better by revealing everything that is going on inside the program.

We don’t need details nor specifics, just tell us, Coach Kelly, if you have anyone now assisting our special teams coach to get better? Guarantee you, others higher up, who ponied up for Kelly’s salary would like to k it and deserve to know.

You’re wasting your breath. Same poster before we lost to Tennessee:

He’s on the emotional rollercoaster with about half of tRant.

After the Tennessee loss he was bitching about how Kelly didn’t “single out the coaches like he singled out the players.” I asked which players Kelly singled out and he said Kelly singled out everyone except Jayden Daniels.

It’s gonna be a long season.

I doubt the powers that be are micro-managing him. FFS he has been our coach for 6 games

Stop fricking falsely implying that I said that. It’s not micro managing to simply want to know if any staff member is helping LSU’s special teams coach. That’s not telling Kelly what to do nor demanding specifics, it’s just wanting to be somewhat informed as a fan and booster.

IDK but maybe with the limited talent on the roster its hard to field 22 players let alone special teams as well.

How was the special teams last year? Bowl game with 39 players?

Fans and boosters don't need to know shite about what is going on to correct problems with the team. This is why coaches use coach speak. Like I said earlier how do you know the issue is coaching? Are you grading film? Do you have any idea what everyones job is on any given play?

I would hope his bosses aren't grilling him on how he is fixing mistakes or asking how he is trying to improve our blocking, tackling, etc...leave him alone he was hired to do a job and he hasn't even been here for a year. Hasn't even had a full year to recruit. He has a much better idea of what this team needs now after 6 games than he did after spring practice

In the same sentence you say this

Goodness. Just a little bit of entitlement.

And if he doesn’t?

He’s already admitted that it’s their job as coaches. They’re playing the best players. That’s been pointed out to you twice now.

No, but I expect a clearer answer than the one he gave as to how he evaluates his coaches. Did you see one?

“Hope and pray.”

Would that have been better? We just had a coach who would throw any and everyone under the bus in front of the media.
