Even that would be an improvement over the last two years under Meddlin' Ed.

Lol. That won’t ever win in the sec. If the goal is to recruit the same players that were at ND, than we are royally fricked.
What kind of players are you talking about? Players that value education enough to stay eligible and graduate? Players that don't enroll with the goal of declaring after their Jr. or RS-So. year? Guys that don't used COVID as an excuse opt out to prepare for the NFL? Guys that feel compelled to rehab an injury to get back and help the program finish the season? Fact is, Notre Dame has finished the last 2 seasons ranked #5 and #8 while LSU is 11-12 and couldn't even field a respectable team for a bowl game since the mass exodus of "SEC types" chasing that pot of gold in the NFL after the 2019 season. And don't even get me started on all the problems off the field.

If we get through July and the elite recruits are still not jumping aboard, then it will be time to hit the panic button.
*********************************************************
With all of the issues LSU has had since 2020, if you were a top 100 player [and you read editorial posts from the "experts" that talk to Brian Kelly being on an instant hot seat having taken the job at LSU], wouldn't you want to see what LSU looks like against [at least] Florida State before making a commitment?
November and "hit the panic button" [change the dialogue?] if there's no apparent movement towards LSU and all those who have visited have primarily already committed elsewhere.

You never hit the panic button. You grind and fight. Always grind and fight.

To get the right culture, he needs higher quality student-athletes. Yes, STUDENT-athletes who are of NFL caliber. They are out there! NOT just here-for-NFL athletes.
At LSU he can mix in the here-for-NFL only athletes. Not the case at ND.
But, to build championship culture with the long view in mind, he is resetting the bricks n mortar of LSU football. I love what he is doing!

Kelly is recruiting the high caliber student-athlete, one who cares about diploma and is of NFL caliber. AT LSU he can mix in the necessary NFL-only ones, too (unlike ND). But resetting the bricks n mortar of LSU football with high caliber and mixing in the rest as needed, seems to be is plan. I love it!
The bigger challenge is elevating the caliber of the average dumbazz LSU fan (not us, of course!) who thinks this is plug n play Madden football and who would step over their dead jambalaya pot to win a national championship (regardless of who gets a college diploma in doing so).

We are clearly behind on every front in recruiting. Anyone who says different is in denial. We have no real plan to capitalize on NIL and our only strategy seems to be bitching about it. Be prepared for some rough seasons in the future. Downvote away but you are all wrong and in denial.

Only 3 % of college athletes play pro football.
It better be important to slot of them to get a diploma.

You will get downvoted but, LSU’s first recruiting class with the new staff is not panning out as well.

I’m not just gunna downvote you, but I’m gunna tell you exactly why you’re wrong. Few days ago Louisiana passed a law regarding NIL. It will make thing much much easier. Also all NIL deals in Louisiana will have an NDA. Meaning the other programs can’t get in a bidding war because they won’t know how much the athlete is getting paid. Also behind closed doors LSU is doing a lot of work involving NIL. Not just with current players but also recruits. See Harold Perkins. You think that just happened and we lucked into getting him here?
Maybe the guys on here are bitching but the professionals and real guys in charge are doing WORK. They are definitely capitalizing on it.

Here’s the thing. ITS MFKN JUNE!!!!!!!!!! Have you looked at the “top” recruiting classes atm? Bama isn’t even that high. There are 10 months between now and the time they’re supposed to sign. It’s still EXTREMELY EARLY.

Have heard the opposite from insiders like Brody Miller. Joenel Aguero, for example, had LSU in his top schools. He left LSU out of his top 4 because we didn’t have a definitive plan for an NIL deal.
I get it’s not time to panic but, it’s tiring to hear just blatantly false narratives that LSU somehow is ahead of the game in NIL. We’re being lapped at the moment with a majority of the top ten recruits in state slated to go elsewhere

How will it make it easier? From my understanding, you can make collectives now. But who will fund them when boosters just financed three new coaching staffs in men’s basketball, baseball and football? Really haven’t heard anyone fund deals besides Gordon

While I agree that LSU isn't a leader on the NIL front, your take is WAY over the top. Did we not come up with enough NIL money for Kayshon? Did we not outbid A&M for Perkins?
Look we aren't going to be able to handsomely pay 25 recruits but we do have the resources to pay for a few top guys.
IMO we will be right where we were before: good at recruiting, just not as good as the top spenders (Bama, A&M, etc.). We have won 3 NCs with this model of recruiting so there is no reason to think we can't compete for another NC.

Bro y’all have to stop with this. There’s no question recruiting is now different but it’s not so different that we won’t end up with a great class. We have smart coaches who are putting a plan together for NIL. It’s been talked about. But LSU still wants kids to want to be at LSU and not just all about money. That can be a factor but not THE only factor. Give it some time, there’s no way our coaches are just pitching graduation lol.
That’s a piece of it but I think they’re getting a feel for where these kids are and putting or have been putting a priory list together, then will come with the NIL deals for each of them. Hopefully it’s a package type of deal with more than just cash involved. They can be smart about this.

Recruiting pitches and all that mumbo Jimbo applies to a very small % of the football recruit population. I would say 10-15%. 85-90% of decisions will be based on NIL/payments.
These are facts and they are indisputable.

I don't think there will be enough real money to go around. Just like all things, the best players will have a high price tag and when the money runs out (everyone has a cap) the rest of the recruits will be picking schools based on where they best fit cuz the NIL deals they will be offered won't be life changing.

Ten grand is life changing to some of these kids

Yeah but LSU isn't gonna be outbid by $10k offers. We just can't keep up with many six figure offers.
