4.67 is undraftable territory on its own for a guy his size.

Boutte was much closer to a 4.4 guy before the injury. Go watch the UCLA game. Dude had a crazy burst.

It’s sad to see. There are dozens of factors people are discussing here but one of them for sure has got to be, he was never the same burst/speed wise after the injury. You can still have an NFL Career with 4.6 speed. Will just have to work harder now.

Hell I ran legitimately ran a documented 4.64 in high school at some specific events. I just had zero other physical attributes to play football

It does kinda suck for the dude because Jayden didn’t really zero in on him last year. For whatever reason, he preferred Taylor and Nabors

Daniels STARTED OUT focusing on Boutte; he could have had 2 TDs against Fla State. First one, on the first drive, was tough, but he went up and had both hands on it. The second one was a quick slant in the endzone, and Boutte didn't even try to catch it. There were a number of other drops, some on easy wide-open short routes.

That's the reason the offense looked so disjointed: Daniels came in expecting to target an All-American, and Boutte couldn't catch anything. So he started holding the ball looking for others, and running when that didn't pan out. After a couple games Nabers emerged, and then Taylor did around midseason.
If Boutte would have caught like everyone expected him to, I think we win the Fla State game, and the offense would have been smoother.

Gotta wonder if Boutte's head is messed up at this point. He had the injury to come back from, and ended up making a baby- probably not intentionally. He might have been thinking "oh frick, now what do I do?"

I mean Kelly called him out publicly this offseason. He has motivation issues. Hard to just label it as injuries.

Not sure what you were watching but Boutte gave no shits this past season.

Zeroed on him first game and Boutte bitched out.

I don't blame Daniels one bit for not trying to feature him.

Gordy Rush ran a 4.6 when Miles was here at combine day.

Fun fact: coming out of high school, Gordy was ranked higher at RB than Barry Sanders.

To a lesser degree, he was also the victim of a tough situation. The program was in a shambles and we brought in a new coach with on offense that featured a run centric QB.

You might be surprised to learn that despite your characterization of Boutte being a victim of a run-centric QB, only 4 QBs in LSU history passed for more yards than Daniels in a single season.

Daniels even passed for more yards than Burrow did in 2018.

What about passing attempts? Daniels had more passing attempts in a single season than any QB in LSU history not named Joe Burrow.

Do you think not having a QB that passed for almost 3,000 yards hindered Josh Reed, Wendell Davis, Michael Clayton, or Eric Martin?

Do you think it hindered Malik Nabors who quietly had a top 10 all time season in both receptions and yards?

What really hindered Boutte was Boutte and the much better play by Malik Nabors.
