I am an LSU grad. My son is a top 100 swimmer and sprint State Champion in the class of 2015 (50 guesses) . His current times in HS are better than the current times being posted by this year's LSU team. We visited the "Nat" his Freshman year in HS. He was (and I was as well) unbelievably disappointed in the facilities. We have visited many swimming facilities and have yet to find one worse than the facilities at LSU....it breaks my heart! I was actually glad he chose to swim elsewhere. Mr. Alleva, your loss...again. GEAUX TIGERS!

Yeah, and those filthy locker rooms are light years better than we had when I was there. I had a rats nest under the rusted out bottom of my locker in that back closet by the roll down door.

LSU doesn't even staff anyone to clean the Nat. It's horrid. The toilets in those original bathrooms were clogged for years. Probably are still clogged.

What in the world did they do with the $1.8 Million in renovations?

Pissed it away to someone's "well connected brother-in-law" as most state/government spending is done so. I have no clue why some paint on the cinder block walls and some signage would cost over $50K.

Let's be real about this and keep it in perspective. Relative to money being spent on Football, $1mil to $2mil is chump change. It's simply a matter of priorities with the TAF. Football is a cash cow, and **most** of their horsepower and attention goes to that. Football, then Baseball.... followed by the red-headed step children.

Congrats to your boy!!!

Was it really the facility that swayed you son? Or was it, as someone else posted, that your son did not want to swim for an arsrhole like Geyer? Granted, again as someone else posted, less of an arse hole than Schmitt, but still an arsehole.

Was he recruited by Geyer? Did LSU make him an offer?

Did your son who swims faster than current LSU swimmers actually turn down on opportunity to be a Tiger?

Actually, the money was well spent. Just not enough. Re-tiled the entire pool area from stem to stern. Re-furbished the diving boards and platforms. They really need to trick out the dressing/bathrooms .....and get a little a/c in the building.

I'll also point out that anyone who is dismayed with the team results shouldn't take them as an indication that LSU swimming is no good. Here's why: First off, A&M's women (separate program from their men, unlike LSU) are a perennial top 5 team. With the way swimming works, the 20th ranked team in the country, even if it had the meet of its life, will VERY rarely give the 5th ranked team a run for its money. Next -- with regards to the men -- like I said, without rest, a swimmer isn't going to sniff the results they're capable of. And different teams and different coaches have different philosophies on just how much rest a swimmer should have before a dual meet. The LSU staff is stoutly against ANY rest before a regular season meet. On the other hand, A&M virtually ALWAYS swims poorly all year up until the LSU meet, when they always seem to have had a bit of rest. Looking at this year's results confirms this -- I doubt if you'll see many of those A&M kids swim much faster than that at SECs or NCAAs. LSU is a far different story.

Same BS the Administration has been fed year after year. Sad to see LSU Athletics taken for a ride right under our noses. All you need to know is we are 38th in NCAA and second to last in SEC. The numbers speak for themselves.

The above mentioned quote is the same old BS being pumped out by the current staff and their muses. Mr Alleva, for the love of God, your swim program has been high jacked and LSU seemingly could give a shite.

Have to say though, the BS is very well articulated bunch of blah blah blah. Polished. Lack of knowledge of the sport keeps the administration in the dark.

The #3 in the country LSU Gymnastics Team got to the top with THE crappiest training facility in the Nation. The swim team does not suffer from facility, it suffers from lack of leadership. And we let a proven, over and over again, leader from Clemson just walk out the door. We don't need to spend millions to get the swim program on track, we need to bring in a proven leader and the rest will follow.

Congrats to the LSU Men !!!!! Broke school record in 800 Free Relay at SEC Championships yesterday. It's all here alright.

For ranters who could give a shite about swimming, Free Relay is our four fastest guys against their four fastest guys in the generic swim stroke, the freestyle.

Our 800 Free Relay LSU Record Breaking Swim actually placed dead last at the meet yesterday. In other words, we got beat by Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Mizzou, Kentucy, and Texas A&M.

But we broke a school record. Maybe Geyer will be named SEC Coach of the year.

SEC Championship Swimming Update Day #2 Finals

LSU Diving Rocks the house. Bettridge takes 1st !!!!!

Women Drop to 4th over all and Men are hanging in there at Second to Last.

500 Freestyle
Women take 15th
Men not represented (Wonder if Geyer has addressed this glaring need for the program? Have to check the incoming recruits, will get back to you on that one.)

200 IM (for Ranters, they swim down and back in each of the four strokes)
Women take 12th, 16th and 20th (great showing)
Men take 11th

50 Freestyle
Women take 13th
Men take 18th and 19th

200 Free Relay (for Ranters, each swimmer swims down and back once)
Women take 9th
Men take 7th

Not sure about school records, will have to let the pumpers and staff address that one. I'll stick to the results, the numbers speak for themselves.

Day three- men move up a notch to 8th based on a 2nd and 6th in the 100 butterfly . Women hold to 4th out of 12 . The SEC , like all sports, is sucking the best swimmers to swim.In the SEC. Many at this meet will swim in Rio Olympics either for the U.S. or from other countries.

SEC Swimming Championships Results

On the Diving side (separate from swimming) we rocked the house.

On the Swimming side, no change on the Men's side from last year, still second to last in SEC.

On the Women's side they finally move up from 7th to 5th in SEC. After 5 years they are finally back to a women's team of the caliber Geyer inherited from Coach Schmitt. Great job ladies!!!!

To the OP, LSU is lucky Louisiana's own, Ms Kopsco chose LSU. She is an asset to our Swim Program.

The numbers speak for themselves.

To the above quote from across the pond, Disney World is in Florida.

Cheers

Also note, neither Vandy & Arkansas fields a Men's swimming team and have neither MS school have either Men's or Women's Teams.
