I never heard Olympic Gold Medalist Greg Lugainis complaining about the facilities.

Ring Leader,
As you know, Louisiana used to produce the best swimmers in the Nation in your day, also happens to be my day as well. I was at those NCAA's back then as well. Pained me to see our swimmers leave the State. National Champions like Mikey Williams, Shelly Ripple, Ashley Tappin, Kris Babylon, Steve Lunquist, Andre Duplessis. All from Louisiana Programs, all left the State to swim elsewhere. The problem with Louisiana swimming today is the old school coaching philosophies that put Louisiana Swimming on the map in our day are either dead and buried or retired. It's not a facilities problem. The facilities were crap back then and we still produced multiple National Champions and multiple Olympic Gold Medalist swimmers.

The lack of facilities isn't preventing Louisiana from producing talent, its the mindset of Louisiana swimming and a lot of the club coaches. But you can't put that on the LSU coaches. But that's a completely different discussion and something that pissed me off back when I was swimming just a few years ago.
The fact of the matter is that Louisiana only produces a swimmer like Kopcso every 4 or 5 years. LSU has to rely on out of state recruiting, and how can you compete with Texas and Texas A&M for recruits when they have some of the nicest facilities in the country and we have one of the worst?

And who do you think is running Louisiana Swimming? Wouldn't you know it, LSU's very own Head Coach, Dave Geyer is the Vice Chairperson.

LSU has some of the best age group swimmers in the country in the incoming freshman class (Geyer and his staffs work).
How would you know?

I still disagree with you to an extent. Having shite facilities and shite in state talent kills recruiting.

Let we not forget, RIP Ed Kelly
Great coaches like these men are why Louisiana Swimming was on the map back in the day.

I know because I am still involved with LSU. And follow lsu swimming as a whole. It doesn't take a lot of research to see the quality of LSUs incoming class

If a recruit doesn't work out do they get cut or do they continue holding the team back? Since you know so much. Living Gold has meaning.

In that case, we just spent $2 million dollars on natatorium renovations on a sport that nobody gives a shite about.
If that's true it was a waste of money.

You obviously have someone in mind? Care to share?

Thanks for the shameless self promotion and damage control coach. Glad to know you are doing your job. The medal of valor is in the mail. Who or what ever lit the fire under your arss deserves a nod.

What ever you say 6 post Charlie.
Did your #1 incoming recruit request a personal tour of Tiger Stadium by Coach Miles before he signed? And got what he asked for. Get Honest swimswamscum. Live Gold. You can do it.
When the football coach is recruiting swimmers, Something Is Wrong With The Swim Program.
For the record, I love Coach Miles.
