I would rather see him at a program that might have a chance of improving and in a conference where he might have some success. KU is guaranteed to go nowhere.
Plus it's Kansas....

I actually hope he wants the job. I’d like to see what he really can do trying to build a team.

Kansas needs a young, high energy, competent and creative coach. Hard to come by, but traits no longer possessed by Les Miles. Love him or hate him, Les just needs to stay home and keep cashing his checks.

You don't believe that. When has Les let an OC run an offense?
No way Les and Canada would work.

Kansas will have a better coach than LSU.

Really, instead they should go for a coach who has taken a big 12 team that had only been bowl eligible 1 in the previous decade and take them to 3 bowl games in year 2-4 as well as beat there in state rival, one of the perennial national powers, 2 of those years with considerable less talent. Oh, wait a second....

It's actually interesting because quite a few KU fans want this to happen. There has been some smoke the last few days, including a scholarship offer to Lowell Narcisse yesterday by Hull, the assistant with LA connections.
Personally, as a KU fan, I would prefer a younger guy, but I understand why the new AD would want to make a splash hire.

He did it once already.
Do really think the league is the same as it was 15 years ago? The big 12 used to be a damn good league with power run and defense. Now its spread and see who can score the most, 15 years ago...yes les would be a great fit...now no. Now Maryland would be a much better fit for Les

“ quite a few Kids U fans want this to happen”
Why shouldn’t they want a coach who won almost 80% of his games while playing in the hardest football conference in America and took two teams two national championship games???
The question has always been, does a 65-year-old miles who is receiving 133,000 a month already want to take on probably one of the most difficult rebuilds there is in college football or does he want to pocket those monthly checks and watch his kids play sports.

That’s a really tough job.
If he’s that desperate to coach he’ll get it but man it’s tough to win there.

I hope Les gets it. He deserves to get another shot.

I'm not saying they shouldn't want a coach with this background at all. I think it's exactly what you said after this. After Weis, I thought they would be a little wary.
To be fair, it's completely different. Les was coaching at a high level when LSU let him go, whereas Weis was obviously on his way down. Weis was looking for a paycheck and tanked the program so far that Beaty was put in a really tough position when he came in.

quote:well, that's true if you define "high level" as being 15-11 in the SEC (10-10) against the West his last 3+ years, all with elite recruiting classes.

Compared to how Weis finished at Notre Dame and with what KU has dealt with since Mangino was fired, that's high level.
