The initial fight; you loose or win. No matter what, you leave that fricker alone, and he usually agrees.

Weeks did enough, that's all that can be said for him

Met him head on, sure he got trucked but he held enough for support to come in and finish up

Your Inside LB getting trucked by a halfback is not good. He's not a 5'10" corner or a 180 lb free safety or a punter. That's your ILB who has a scholarship to fill the gap and stop the run

in general it's hard not getting knocked like that when you go up against someone of equal size head on, you can see weeks lower his center of gravity as much as he could, but he is still taking someone on of equal size that is moving full speed at him

like think about someone the same size as yourself running straight at you at full speed, do you think you could stop them cold?

In that situation if you try to square up against Kaleb when hes running full speed, hes 10/10 times running you over.

It's why you're taught to not go head on in that spot.

Drive into the inside hip, use the sideline as leverage, do not break down and give him the inside angle or ability to square up.

Yeah I heard this all summer. “He is fat and up to 260lbs now”. Doesn’t look like it to me.

I didn’t think it was that bad either. Sometimes you don’t have the leverage in your favor. All you can do is square up and hang on. Good plays by both. Much better than that diving at the ankles garbage you see so much of these days.

It was a strong play by Jackson, no doubt. But after all of the ole tackling and alligator arms we’ve seen the last three years, I’ll take Weeks laying out for a tackle and just getting beat by a bigger guy, especially if it slows the ball carrier down and the next guy gets him down or out of bounds.

Meh. Most LBs, including ILBs, are not as big as they were 15+ years ago because they are dealing with spread offenses and more athletic QBs and RBs. They also have to be effective in coverage against RBs and TEs that MLBs of the past wouldn’t have a prayer of keeping up with.

Also, most college RBs Jackson’s size and larger are slower power backs. There aren’t that many who are over 230 and have his speed and athleticism.

But baw took him on and took him down. This shouldn’t be a highlight for Jackson imo
Um, he smacked him. It's still a highlight.

I'll give Weeks props for hanging on, but this is still a Jackson highlight.

Still better tackling than we saw last year. Weeks got trucked but still made the tackle. I don't think he was expecting that kind of contact.

Weeks is smaller than Jackson, and on top of that. he still made the tackle even if he gave up a few extra yards.

You are looking way too far into this. Jackson will be trucking a lot of SEC defenders this season. The guy is a manchild at 235 pounds with legit speed

I agree with this. I remember one of the media guys doing a recap for one of the 11 on 11s and said Jackson was running up the middle and PJ Woodland (the 165 freshman corner), wanted no part of him

If Jackson becomes 2015 Fournette, we might go undefeated. At 18 carries a game and 6.5 ypc, you're talking 1400 yards in 12 regular season games.

And despite what many want you to believe, both Sloan and Kelly leaned on feature backs. Sloan's lead RB carried it 16 times a game and the #2 carried it 6 times (averaging around 34 carries a game) the year before he came to LSU. Kelly's lead back in 2020 and 2021 (Kyren Williams) carried the ball at least 17 times a game for two years straight). Before Diggs got hurt and slowed last year, he averaged 16.5 carries per game over a 6 week span.

Who tackled Kaleb in this clip? This is the second time you have referenced Kaleb getting tackled and I'm wondering if we are watching the same clip. And he clearly geta an extra yard or two after he steps over Weeks' body. He doesn't go out until the safety comes over and helps.
