That’s a big board
Not a draft projection

3. Mariners: Kade Anderson, LHP, Louisiana State (No. 9)
The Mariners would strongly consider Hernandez but one of the college southpaws seems more plausible. The best college sophomore available, Anderson has a more traditional delivery than Doyle and a quality four-pitch mix that has him challenging for the D-I strikeout lead in his first season as a weekend starter.

How does Kade compare to Skenes and Ty Floyd? I admittedly have not watched this year. Typically I start around the sec tourney or regionals. Have caught some games on the radio, but hard to evaluate prospects when consuming games like that.

Doyle has a lot of work to do to be successful at the next level. He’s ultimately a power throwing lefty that overwhelms college hitters. Won’t be able to do that in the minors

Skenes is on another level (even at the MLB level he has instantly become elite).
Anderson is better than Ty Floyd. LHP that consistently throws 95MPH and has reliable offspeed pitches.
I mean...this has him #3 overall as a prospect. You know his stuff is legit.

Still can’t believe Kilen is ranked that high. That dude didn’t even play half the SEC season and couldn’t get above .270 in conference play. Same shite he did at Louisville. I get that MLB drafts off projection but I just don’t see anything about that guy that screams major league.

How does Kade compare to Skenes and Ty Floyd?
Up to 97 with a 4 pitch mix 4FB/CB/SL/CH. Great command of the zone. Only real "weakness" is he's HR prone. Elite stuff that will only get better.
Much better prospect than Floyd, no where close to Skenes, but Skenes is the best prospect in 10 years.
Compared to LSU guys in the last 15 years, taking into account their time here, their rating as prospects, and the era they played in, I'd go
Tier 1
- Skenes
Tier 2
- Gausman
- Nola
- Anderson
- Eyanson
Tier 3
- Henry
- Holman
- Lange
Tier 4
- Poche
- Floyd
Jump and Holman are tough as you could argue putting them in either tier 3 or 4. Hill is tough because he had such a rough final year, but has made the bigs with mixed results. Poche is tough because he was good here and had collegiate longevity, but had no real prospect value. I think Nola and Gausman's numbers would be similar to Anderson/Eyanson with today's bats and talent. They played in the dead bat/ball era of college baseball. Henry could easily be tier 2 but we didn't see enough of him with COVID.

For now he's basically left handed Ty Floyd with a touch more velocity. Floyd actually had a very good CH and decent SL, but didn't have much command.
Like this change up from Floyd is nuts. Also had a great one for the 3rd out of the inning.

Wow Jackson and Ethan Hollidays parents have got to be proud having both sons go #1 overall in the MLB draft out of high school if this projection comes to fruition

For some reason I love it when we are referred to as Louisiana State instead of LSU
Feels old school

They could've at least spelled it correctly in their graphic though.

Eyanson at 66
Dickinson at 72
Shores at 85
Jones at 99
Frey at 130
If this is where (or close to where) these guys are drafted, do any come back?

The only one on here who you’d even entertain coming back would be Frey, and he’s having monster end of the year and went from zero draft boards to every single top prospect list. Hes a senior next year so he loses his leverage.
In short, no.

2 kids from the same high school in the top 10?!?

Thanks for the breakdowns lynx and pp7
If he’s in the Gausman/Nola stratosphere, that is super legit.
Not sure why I got downvoted to death lol. I ain’t gonna watch LSU ball all year like I used to growing up as a kid. Hell, I don’t even watch my actual alum anymore lol. I do really enjoy watching postseason college baseball though.
