Completely agree especially now that there is only 20 rounds in the draft top 10 rounds they have already agreed on a number. Crawford is gone and everybody already knew that going in I hated to see Truman go late in the second I thought there was a chance he would come but it looks like a no go.

I think he's gone regardless but that comment doesn't support the fact that he would leave. If money isn't a problem, then that would support him coming to LSU.

That being said, I still think he signs.

Why even sign this type of prospect.

The whole 10 rounds thing was before NIL. Players can now make more after first 5 with NIL deals. This will change soon watch

You never know what can happen. Kid could hurt in HS and draft stock drop.

Because when they get drafted high your school gets mentioned and you didn't have to spend a cent or a second developing the player. It's basically free publicity and keeps your school in the minds of elite players.

Jay Johnson said anyone drafted in the top 10 rounds will not be at LSU. They agree on a price prior to being drafted. If they don't get an agreed price, they aren't drafted.

You cant get top talent if you dont take the chance on getting it. You can sign 50 players if you want in baseball, there's no limit, so you might as well take a stab at as many top prospects as you can.

We are very likely going to get a number of Top kids on campus this year. Paxton Kling who pulled his name out the draft was a 1st round talent. He was in the Top 20 of perfect game's rankings. You dont take his commitment and get him signed, he never makes it here.

No it won't. Guys picked in the first ten rounds will still have agreed to the deal beforehand. NIL has nothing to do with that. The mechanics of the draft dictate that.

So we shouldn't have recruited Crews?

You really think baseball NIL will be throwing out that much money? Can't think of NIL with baseball the same as football. I don't think many baseball players will get 6 figure deals from NIL, if any.

I disagree, Monday is rounds 3 through 10. Past round 4 has a good chance of coming with NIL. NIL changes things. A player can come sign a hefty NIL deal, stay 3 years then sign a large MLB contract.

NIL doesn’t matter. Teams lose pool money if they don’t sign guys who’ve been drafted in the first 10 rounds. They’re not drafting a guy in the first 10 rounds without agreeing to a number. Jay has even said so himself.

Last year, only 3 guys in the top 10 rounds didn’t sign, one of which being kumar rocker.

If they’re taken today, they are gone.
