Absolutely - during the first half, there were tons of posts here complaining about the officiating.
All justified. LSU would have won by 15+ if calls were the same for both sides.

I like how you ignore all the “or” contingencies. That is very convenient for your argument.

If you cause it to vibrate before the ball hits the backboard, no violation occurred. Thats the way it's officiated every day across all leagues.
I'm all for rubbing it in Kentucky's face, but this whole thread is dumb.
The backboard/goal did not shake one or two times and stop. The goal was shaking from the slapping of it at the time the original shot was taken to the time when the ball was tipped in. The ball was certainly over the rim, or in the rim, or whatever you want to call it at some point while the goal was shaking from the slap. The backboard absolutely had some movement to it from the time of the slap until the ball went in the basket. So it was a violation of the written rules.

Even if it was (and I think you can argue the rule wasn't broken), it's a call that is seriously never made. I'd like to know when the last time a defender was called for goaltending/basket interference when missing a block and hitting the backboard. I've never seen it in my life, and neither has anyone on this board.
The LSU basket interference call is slightly more gray area, but once again, a ball that's 50/50 in the cylinder and on the way out is rarely called for interference.
Both no calls were well within the spirit of the rule, and LSU was clearly the better team last night.

slackster, thoughts on this gif? The UK player slaps the backboard right as the ball is kissing the glass right above the rim inside the cylinder. (That slap is what caused the entire goal to shake)

Yes!
On replay, he even grabbed and pulled on the rim to make the backboard and rim move.
As far as the other argument, the still pics of the basketball in the cylinder are misleading. The ball had come out and away from the cylinder prior to LSU tipping it. Clearly tipped outside of the cylinder and followed in a bit.
Awesome win.

He seemed to be on the verge of crying he was so intent on testifying for a Kentucky win......Dude is in the wrong part of the country to entertain any thought of a "Do-Over"!!!!!

About a second before the tip in.

Only if in the judgement of the referee the action impacted the ball. Which it did not appear to have to me. His hand was down before the ball arrived and didn't have a lasting impact on the goal.
You can vote me down, but read the rule. The call is not automatic. It is left to the referee's judgement.

I love it!
Was sure we were gonna get screwed like those lame azz, big blue balled, SEC crooked officials were doing all game long.
After the Texas AandM, Saints playoff games I was prepared to shoot my television set. Thank the Lord they finally got it right...I want to watch the ? opener and the UGA game.

I don't want to really bump this thread, but I don't want you to think I'm ignoring this either.
Seems to me he slaps it right before the ball hits the glass, and that angle makes it tough to see how far it is. I saw a clip on CBS Sports that shows it BARELY outside the rim when he appears to make contact, but we're splitting hairs.
Like I said many times, I think they were both very good no calls.

I think we agree then.
Both UK's goaltending and LSU's basket interference could have been called by the letter of the law; but both of them happen often in games and it's never called.
The problem I have is officiating experts on Twitter and even an LSU radio guy focusing only on the LSU part, not the UK part.
