Sounds like he is a midseason backup plan if our offense doesn't improve next year. It's a win-win for Gonzales. If our offense improves he had a hand in it and will be hired to be an oc somewhere. If our offense doesn't improve, Crowton will be fired and Gonzales will probably replace him.

If the offense improves, Crowton will get a HC somewhere and Gonzo will be the new OC. Either way I think he's the future for the offense at LSU.

Crowton gets paid too much money to not be organized. I think Les is being too conservative here and needs to shite-can Crowton.

Gonzales also said he's made sure that his receivers are getting off on the right foot, literally. Gonzales has shuffled the corps footwork to help them get off the line faster and run their routes better. Jefferson noted it has shown in practice.
Da frick? None of you Rantards noticed this before now?

It is incredible how terribly coached our recievers were. Gonzales was literally running through the basics with them today. Great pick up, though. Fiery guy.

As the new passing game coordinator, Gonzales has already helped the receivers and quarterbacks with their timing.

If Gonzales can help Jefferson get rid of the ball on time we will have corrected 1 of the 2 major problems facing this offense.

Passing game coordinator still cracks me up.

Wasn't Sean Payton the Cowboy's passing game coordinator before the Saints hired him?

If Gonzales is >> McCarthy, then doesn't it concern you that Les hired McCarthy and this poor receiver coaching went on unabated for 3 years.

Did it really take a recruiting violation for Les to smell the coffee?

I'm pulling for Les but it sounds as if he's way too dependent on others' knowledge of the game.

Why would anything bother anyone on this board.

I'll second that. Gonzo is a great practice field coach. Don't know if that is part "new guy out to impress", or is he just a cut above, but he outshined most of his peers today at his craft.

It is inspiring the way we can take any positive news and still find a way to talk negative crap about it.

+1

this

it feels like we have a retard for a OC and instead of firing the retard, we hire someone else to do his fricking job.

Apparently the guys a douche. But he's still a great hire. I'm excited to see what he'll do.
Gonzales made it a point, on numerous times, that he's not here to take over for Crowton, instead he's there to help Crowton with organization as well as play selection.
Does he cut Crowton's food for him too?

I have a question and I am not flaming. If you make a half a million dollars a year as an OC shouldn't you know how to coach your recievers on which foot to get off on?

This article makes me think there are some fundamentals being overlooked on this team and that could be what the problem is. These are very basic things that should not be overlooked at a school like LSU. If this was going on at a small school with a young coaching staff it is understandable but not LSU.

Just my opinion. If Crowton is overlooking things this basic he is the problem on offense.

before the 2010 season, we'll get a "coaching" coach, just you wait and see!

he's instruct les when to take time outs, where to run the option to and speak for him for media functions.

just you wait and see scoop!
