I have been saying this all year. For majority of the games the LSU defense is good 4 out of 5 plays. The problem is that 5th play is usually a 40+ yard touchdown.

Secondary Coach (I think Raymond is over rated to be completely honest) doesn't call defensive coverages or make adjustments play to play.

the coverage is part of the defensive call. I doubt he is teaching differently this year.

It seems zones are becoming more and more successful against these wide open offenses. Teams like UK and Arkansas are having lots of success with interceptions with far less talent in the secondary. I have always been a fan of man to man until this year.

We often don't have a first line of defense.

Every team is dealing with Covid. Every team deals with losses. One thing that's consistent though is Pelini doesn't make any adjustments in the game. That's a sign of a bad gameday coach. Aranda always adjusted his scheme as the games evolved. If they were beating us in the first half he'd come out the second half with a different defensive adjustment.

The excuses for Pelini need to stop. Yes, it's a tough year with Covid and the losses but the guy is making 2 million a year. You can do everything in your power to make sure LSU has the right scheme and gameplan. He's not doing that. Nobody here can say he is. it doesn't take a genius to see where he's failing as a coach.

Why is it that every single player that returned on this defense has regressed? Wah wah Pelini doesn't have 4-3 players. bullshite. You adjust your scheme based to play strengths which is also something he's NOT doing. This is why we keep getting players transferring. He needs to go. Don't care what financial problems we have throw a gofund me out to buy his arse out. He honestly doesn't seem like he cares to me with the way he just runs with a single scheme making no adjustments fluidly as the game evolves. frick him.

This guy even acknowledged he doesn't make adjustments against Miss State and he STILL doesn't. That's almost like a slap in the face at LSU haha got you your asses paying me my contract for millions. Did anyone else besides me notice he just kept playing a Cover 1 against Arkansas on 1st down knowing they would just dump it over the top on 2 young CBs?

I don't see how Pelini survives this.

Do you want to bet? Do you, loudmouth? Or do you want to tacitly admit that you really don't think that and were just showing off?

Just a question: Were you one of the majority on here last year who were calling out Aranda after the Ole Miss game?

Exactly... take away those big plays and we're undefeated.

You don't have to give someone a buyout.

So you're saying there's a problem defending the deep pass

Not just deep pass

Many of those big plays were were runs where we bit on the slightest misdirection or short passes where no one bothered to cover or tackle a receiver.

I still don't understand why Pelini has a buyout.

I still don’t understand how he got any of that contract. Literally no one else wanted him so we make him one of the highest paid DCs in the country with a ridiculous buyout???

I get that O just won a national title and should be allowed to hire whoever he wants. But Woodward should have said NO to those specific terms and negotiated a more friendly contract. It’s not like Bo would have turned down less.

Every time I see a QB look deep and to the right, I sigh and turn off the TV real quick.

If you fire someone for on the field reasons then you have to pay the full contract. A buyout clause is usually for less than what the full contract is worth.

No Power 5 program is going to get a coordinator without a buyout. They are pretty much all represented by agents these days and the agent's job is to get the best deal for their client.

Orgeron simply made a bad hire and LSU has suffered the consequences.

Can Pelini’s presence as DC just be incidental to this historically awful defense?

We are so bad we can't even scheme to take away the long passes.
That is bad.
