re: Just so we're all clear, we tried to run the score up

Not really bad play calling
when we had 4 tries for the goaline and ran scott once, that was bad playcalling. also PA on 2nd down = bad
and then we just kept trying to throw it deep. it's obvious JJ was told to throw it deep over and over
we didn't run keiland, and ran crappy murphy instead. but we didn't even do much to establish the run game anyway

we failed due to bad playcalling

38 pnts will not win every game. we just got an awesome game out of our players and young players. this game was a transition to next season. a lot of guys you will be seeing next yr got to play last night. and your rt we failed to score, so why wouldnt you be glad that a lot of these guys got pt and they were trying to score? we want them to do that every game!!!

well we did throw an 85 yard TD pass with the playcalling, but it was called back due to an iffy call
then we got "big throw" tunnel vision

Not really bad play calling, just poor play as a result of lack of focus. it always happens in blowouts, its rare to see a team stay focused for a complete 60 minutes.

Ponchy, SFP just has to have his "failure" to talk about following any LSU game. I was too happy to contaminate my soul with this place after the NCG, but I am sure he had his areas of failure all pegged out the morning after that game as well.

So what did Johnson say and/or do to piss off Les?

If you are going to try to run up the score like the Big 12 and Pac 1 teams do, then you better succeed. I wish LSU would put more 50 and 60 spots on people but it seems like we can't get out of the high 30s, low 40s.
Running up the score is classless but trying to do it and failing is worse.
I'm convinced Miles just wanted to keep Tech's offense off the field so he could give the fanbase the verbal FU he gave us in the post-game interview.

but we run a fake punt then try to throw bomb after bomb. that isn't a way to keep them off
and i agree, it looks silly to try and run it up and fail

it's actually more beneficial for JJ to run our real offense, which rarely uses deep bombs
Maybe Miles has been reading the Rant and heard that JJ can't "go deep" and was wondering if maybe he could test him out a bit.
In fact, I would like to see the long bomb as part of our offensive package. I think JJ gave the other team something else to worry about next year. They have to respect his capability to unleash that on them at any time.
If it had been a veteran QB in there, then I would tend to agree. But hell, this is a true freshman in his second start. And it was a bowl game. I say let it all hang out. Give the guys some room to see what they can do. Let them have fun. If they other team doesn't like it, then stop us and get the ball back.
I don't like running up the score during the regular season with a seasoned team taking it out on an obviously inferior opponent. But this doesn't apply to bowl games. Let it all fly. Put on a show. If you got it flaunt it.
eta - that being said, I would also like to have seen the subs get more time in the game - they all practiced hard all year too. They should have gotten more TV time.

I agree completely Slo.
In other news, Stephen Garcia sucks.

teams expect it on 2nd down after they stuff you running
PA on the goaline should be used on 1st down almost exclusively

i am too considering the season we had, the spark we needed going into next year, and with johnson talking shite
I feel very strongly that this is the reason we did so. The team had turned on each other by the end of the season. We needed this to bring them back together for the new coaching staff next season IMO.

i would also
the only deep passing plays crowton calls are the occasional go route on the sidelines when our WR has the DB by 2 steps

i kige this
lee should have gotten PT
keiland should have gotten a lot more PT
quinn should have gotten a carry on the goaline

our statement this year was 5 losses
5-loss teams don't make statements. at least statements that matter
Getting a little full of ourselves this morning aren't we?

but it was wide open, a better pass would've resulted in an easy TD...

then teams will expect it on first down, in reality, a team should vary the down they run it on to keep from establishing a pattern...I would've done it on 4th down
