Talked about the UCLA game. I forgot to ask about the band and found out the breaking news after the meeting, so I sent an email to reconsider and reach out for funding.
We had 11,000 requests for UCLA at the deadline. Since then there has been more interest in tickets. The next step is when single game tickets go on sale, they expect to get another block of seats to sell to non season ticket holders. He expects nothing short of 15,000 from LSU. Add all the stubhub tickets which will increase our presence in the stadium.
They are working on more home and homes with the major fb programs.
They sold 4,000 new season tickets to ladies basketball since April. They had 800 season ticket holders last year.
Their next big project is focused on the women's and men's basketball teams. It has to do with coaches offices, and facilities to improve the team's quality of life.
They raised close to $5 million for the Victory Fund points promotion.
Everyone email TAF and the band director and explain to them it is a sin to not send the band to a football game.

BTW, the band will not travel to this game....bummer.

I don't see any reason why they can't send a small band contingent just to have something

Why not start a GOFUNDME account for the band...

I assure you this has little, if anything to do with the band director. They operate on a budget dictated by the athletic department.

Did he give any idea of a timeline for this to be started? Completed?

No timeline, but it is a high priority.

is this ticket purchases or deposits? It could 4,002. I put down a deposit and received an email that I would receive insructions about selecting tickets, but that has not happened. Then I see today that they are offering tickets for sale. The ticket office needs some attention in our efforts to upgrade the product of LSU athletics.

I don't know who you are, but from the name, I'm assuming you are a former Tigerbandsman, as am I.

I suspect there will have to be some degree of cost-cutting following the nuclear bomb to the revenue stream caused by the ridiculousness of the pandemic. A hit to the revenue stream that may take a few years to truly recover. There will also be a somewhat significant number of people who (A) still don't want to attend a large mass gathering out of fear of illness and/or (B) don't want to start incurring the cost/hassle of attending a game again after being forced to stay away from it last season. I'm not saying they are "correct" in that line of thinking...just likely there will be more than just a few who think that way.
That said, while it would be great for the kids in the band to experience performing at the Rose Bowl Stadium and visiting Los Angeles, it is not a necessity for the game. And with the cost of flying across the country, feeding, housing a few hundred kids likely not being cheap, it makes sense why they would choose to forego the trip...even if it would be a fun opportunity for the band.

Anyone know what it costs for the band to travel for a trip like this?
Posted on 7/7/21 at 4:19 pm to Mariner
I thought we would have 30,000 so these numbers are disappointing

Thanks for the nice 'update'...for future 'big name home/homes, you might want to suggest they work on getting the first/initial game HERE for once ! The hurricanes/public health disasters seem to screw up the 'return visits' lol

Does anyone what TAF Philanthropic Rank the ticket office is at for new Women's basketball season ticket selection process?
