The best thing about this pickup is he’s 2028 eligible. We get him for 2 years in Baton Rouge. He ranks #72 in the 2028 class as of now

Not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but in Adam’s season preview, he had Ethan Plog listed as a high leverage reliever and Plog ended up with the highest ERA on the entire team.

We couldn’t win mid week games, If we keep the starters as is, maybe this gives us a better chance to win those mid week games.

I mean I don’t think I was misconstruing anything. I think the other guy was complaining about guys from lower level schools, whether it be from the portal or JUCO. You are the one that changed it to only portal players.

This dude may pitch a little during the midweek early in the season (he may not), but he’s gonna be pitching mostly on the weekend. If he’s not a starter, he’ll be a high leverage/back end of the game pen arm. Imagine if Zach Cowan’s FB sat 97–that’s Hood’s floor.
We will not be seeing him throw a ton of midweek innings against the McNeeses of the world. He’s a dude.

You let them all compete for a starting job in the fall and let things fall where they may. I can guarantee you Jay isn’t telling any of them they’ll be exclusively bullpen arms. But he’s not guaranteeing them a weekend starter spot either.
