Not going to lie, kind of renewed my hatred for Bama. And Skip RIP but he really dropped the ball on trying to keep Saban from going to Miami. It all hurts again.

need to watch the episode. He could be lying but Saban kind of alluded to that he was truly undecided and that maybe Skip could have convinced him into staying.

I don’t necessarily doubt this to be true; however, Saban clearly had an itch to scratch. If it wasn’t Miami, it would’ve been a different opportunity in the NFL.

Saban clearly was not a Kirk Ferentz at the time he was at LSU. He wanted something “more.” And thus, what he says to be his biggest regret.

Good point and I agree. It was just interesting that he might have been at LSU a little bit longer.

LSU fans were already tired of Saban flirting with the NFL. It was just bad timing that Rich Rodriguez backed out of the Bama job after accepting it because his wife didn’t like Tuscaloosa. I would have enjoyed seeing Saban at any other school than Bama.

People, remember where Skip grew up. Miami.

Huizenga was a couple of years older than Skip, but they knew each other …. Huizenga was influential in bringing pro baseball to Florida, and did gain insight from Bertman who knew and had contacts in the MLB.

IMO, and I’m merely speculating, but Skip’s affinity for South Fla, may have swayed his thought process in helping Saban and Huizenga meet…as I’ve heard Saban and Bertman we’re like oil and water

Are fcking kidding? The press conference went LIVE with him leaving the ..whole state was in mourning when he left! He delivered the first National championship since 1958 and could have been elected governor and coach .. we lived through Archer and Hallman in the 90s... Saban could do no wrong in La. at the time!

Yeah I gotta say I’ve never heard that side of it where Saban and Sexton kinda tried to put some blame on Skip by saying he was 50/50 and Skip basically said “I know you can’t turn this down” and that was that.

I just finished episode 2

to your point on the head scratching decision to go to miami - it was a similar feeling he had when he went to lsu....

hell, he didn't even visit the campus, msTerry did. Wild.

Saban wanted to test the waters, hes one of the most intense competitors with the likes of Kobe, MJ , Brady , Bellichek ect.

Saban built LSU to what it is nowadays.
He's even giving us his disciples.

forever grateful for saban.

i did get emotional watching that 2nd episode, ngl....

Saban was going to give the pros a shot regardless of what Skip would have done. And he would have stayed in the pros had the Dolphins signed Drew Brees.

I remember the local sports radio shows people calling complaining about his flirtation with the NFL. Even if they felt that way they still didn’t want him to leave, nobody did.
