As we all know, LSU has had many juniors leave early only to get drafted in late rounds or not at all. It seemed that Bama’s success help to keep juniors except for those projected as high draft picks.

Rashard Lawrence (and maybe a couple more) decided to stay in school because he could see that this season had a chance to be special. I’m hoping that this season starts the snowball that helps to retain juniors in the future and stop the exodus. Except for those that are no brainers of course.

Shelvin might be a 1st round or 2nd round pick. He's the best player on our defense

Just keep all the OL & DL we can. Both Shelvin and Chiasson could increase stock dramatically next year.

A lot depends on the finish to this season.

Shelvin is probably 50/50 now. Jacob Phillips could also bolt as well as Jacoby Stevens but I would lean towards Jacoby coming back. Charles, Deculus, Moss should all return

Delpit is the only one on there that I think is a sure thing.

Next likely I'd say Chaisson and Jefferson.

Last is Shelvin and CEH.

I definitely could see any/all of them leave, but I think it really depends on the draft grades they get and in CEH's case what is his role next year with TDP and Emery having another year in the system.

Aren’t Phillips and Queen both sophomores?

If anyone is a lock to leave it’s CEH. His draft stock is sky high so far this year. He’ll be a Top 5 RB taken at worst. Wouldn’t be shocked at 2-3.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Charles take off for the NFL.

It will probably depend 99% on his ability to stop smoking. If he's not going to stop, then he will run the risk of probably being kicked off the team for his next offense. So it would pay him to leave. If he's laying down the devil's lettuce, he should certainly return.

I'd trade the departure of the entire roster for this year's NC.

What’s with the fascination with posters declaring that every junior they can name is “gone pecan”. There is a ton of data available that demonstrates that you should go if you are a first or second rounder, and return if not. Some kids and their families pay attention to that, and some don’t, but it’s tiresome to see the assumption that every junior will leave regardless of their projected draft status, just because some made poor decisions.

I could see Delpit, Jefferson, and CEH leaving. Everyone else should think long and hard about returning

Delpit - consesus 1st round pick. He'll go

CEH - Not a day 1 pick, and possibly not a day 2 pick. Still, it's hard to see him having a better year than he is now. Like Waters in basketball, his biggest negatives are lack of size and breakaway speed. He can't improve that by coming back. He should probably go

Jefferson - Doesn't have the exceptional physical traits to be a first round pick (i.e great size and/or exceptional speed). But, can he have a BETTER year without Burrow at QB? Doubtful. He'll go.

Shelvin - Has been good this year. But interior defensive linemen get picked high ONLY if they can rush the QB (see Quinnen Williams). Pure run stuffing DT's don't go in the first round. That's what Shelvin is right now. This was the first year he was actually able to be a factor at LSU. He definitely could improve by coming back.

Chaisson - From a production standpoint he is not a 1st rounder. Remarkable physical traits, but struggles to consistently pressure the QB...which is what the NFL wants out of DE/OLB. Still, some (perhaps many) teams will see the raw physical ability and think they can mold him into the next Danielle Hunter. He'll star at the combine. But remember, this is only his second full season. The enormous preseason hype was unwarranted and overblown, but with those kind of physical traits there is a chance he could develop into a monster and make himself not just a surefire 1st rounder, but a potential top 5 pick. He will be the biggest question mark IMO

Others:

Chusenberry - Center is not a "premium" draft position, but you could maybe argue he is the best Center prospect in the draft. He stock may not be able to get much higher

Phillips - Physically he looks the part of a great ILB, but his production is just so so. Compare with D. White who had BOTH the physical traits AND tremendous football instincts. Phillips could likely improve his stock by staying another year

I think the outcome of the season will help make the decision for a few guys. I think we will have 1 or 2 guys stay and 1 or 2 guys that end up going. (Outside of the guys that are locks for the top 2 rounds)

Delpit, Jefferson, Chiasson and CEH.

Burrow, Lawrence, Fulton, Fehoko, D-Lewis, Sullivan, Dillon, Divinity and Ferguson are out of eligibility.

So next year, we're replacing 4 starters on offense and 4,5 or 6 starters on defense (depending on your view of Fehoko and Divinity).
