False.
I know. That's why I should've put "pseudo" pick 6.

Apples and oranges.
Zach - 4 star ranked 199 nationally offers by UGA, BC and FSU.
Brandon - 2 star, not ranked nationally offers by McNeese and Memphis.

Odd that he didn't take either.

He is not that good of an athlete can sling it a bit tho

Will he be a soph. this year?
IMO, this is great for future depth. There is a chance that once Bolden and Rivers are gone another QB could transfer, and we'd we a little thin at QB just 2 years from now.

Zach (Juco Stats)
277(att) 159(compl) 59%
31 td 3 int
Brandon (Juco Stats)
399(att) 282(compl) 71%
22 td 9 int
Brandon had a great completion percentage, but quite a few picks. However, it shows a lot of heart to walk on.

This place is AWFUL!!! I sincerely hope that you guys hold yourselves to the SAME standards you set for these kids.
Rantards had high expectations for Jennings after what he did in the Arkansas game (you know 99 yards for a game winning TD and all). In the Iowa game he probably (speculating here b/c like 99.99999 percent of the rant, I don't coach offense at LSU) had an opportunity to lock up a starting job. Then, SHOCKINGLY, the freshman struggled in his first start. He didn't cost us the game but he certainly didn't win it for us and he didn't earn himself a job.
So now, there will be competition for the QB job (again speculating). And as a Tiger fan, may the best man win. I like Jennings but if Rettig or Harris or even this walk-on is better, then that guy should get the job.
But don't think for one second that the first time the new starter, whoever he might be, takes the field you won't see something similar to what you saw in Tampa. Met struggled out of the gate and so did Jamarcus. AJ McCarron struggled for an entire season.
The truth is, no matter who starts its probably going to get worse before it gets better. So when you're calling for the backup 5 minutes into the Wisconsin game, just remember he had an entire spring and fall camp to earn the job and didn't. So Shut up and support the guy who did!

Oh look, a star gazer clown. Let's not ever pay attention to what a player does on the field when we can rely on recruiting services who prey on dumbass fans for for ability assessment.

If you're referring to me, I've said nothing different than what you just said.
I agree 100%. I like a pocket passer because I think it works with our style and Les doesn't get the itch to frick up the game plan with a bad option, but I want the best to win. Same as you.

Same thing they did with JJ and 2012 ZM, which is why many tiger fans are a little apprehensive of the offense next season.
A true freshman struggles in his first start after being the backup all year, giving reason to worry about NEXT year's offense when he's a sophomore? After he will have had an entire offseason to work with Cam Cameron on an offense that will be tailored to him and our running game? Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not at all worried about Jennings.

The irony is recruiting services rely on "on the field play" amongst other things to rate players.
I'm simply making the point, don't expect Brandon to step in take over the reigns at QB for LSU. He is starting at a much lower physical baseline than Met ever had. Met did not make the field his first year at LSU, struggle a little his second (but showed a lot of promise and had some good games) and improved a lot his third. So like I said, comparing Brandon to Met is apples and oranges.

Whats wrong with having another "option" like runing the option. If he ever does, it will be more of a wrinke than an offensive philosphy.
Jennings is a pocket passer with mobility. THATS A GOOD THING. Think Drew Breese and Aaron Murray, not Mike Vick. We aren't arraning an offense around his ability to run but hopefully, if he works out, our offense will be strengthened by his ability to extend a play just like those guys.
And believe me I know he's no Drew Breese or Aaron Murray yet. I'm talking about style of play.

So what your saying is he has 3 to play 3 or 2 to play 2???? Lmao just had to

I'm pretty sure the gameplan didn't include a pseudo pick 6 and taking sacks after standing in the pocket for a while.
I'm pretty sure we've seen the same things from Mett this past season and he had more experience.

No, a true freshman who took QB2 snaps all year and enrolled in the spring only mustering up 51 yds and a pick 6, plus losing the best RB in LSU history, plus losing 2 1000 yd WRs, plus Les' affinity to force a pocket passer to be an option QB (see JJ, see Bowl game) makes me apprehensive.
That said, nobody really knows if AJ is the next JJ or next all american with what we've seen. However, based on the bowl game, anybody who thinks there isn't a QB competition is delusional.

Nothing, except forcing a QB who was bad at it (Jefferson) to run it really takes away from your offense by running a wasted play.

I agree. using that pocket passer to run a bunch of speed options when he isn't good at running the option is a BAD thing.

I agree with you. That's why I like Rettig. He moves pretty well for his height and size. He's strictly a pocket guy, so Les won't waste plays on the option. However, we'll have to see who has the best grasp of the offense and best accuracy this spring/fall.
