My biggest issue with a QB that can run is that they often cant make it thru their progressions. They rely too heavily on their speed to make plays.

Hesitation kills plays, drives, games. Gotta make first downs to WIN! Not everyone is Joe Burrow.

True. Inaccuracy does the same. You have to have both to be a good QB.

ETA: Not saying it cant happen. Deshaun is fairly accurate and can run.

I agree with the first statement too. QBs that can run (Lamar, Cam) lean on their physical gifts over having to work on mechanics and mental aspect of being a better thrower of the ball.

In the Spring game Daniels looked the least accurate. But obviously it was a small sample size.
Agree. If we’re looking at the spring game, Daniels looked the least accurate. Nuss took more chances that paid off. Myles was more protective with the football.

Myles comp. 65%
Nuss comp. 56% more yards, 1 more td
Daniels comp. Not great Bob

Myles and Nuss had similar att. No picks. I remember Nuss had 1 close call that I remember. Not sure if Brennan did.

With all that said, I think the spring game doesn’t mean much . Zero physical threat to the QB I think makes a difference. So I’m not putting much into it. It was a good display of some minor pressure decision making. And some arm capability. Also offensive command. Both Nuss and Myles can sling it. Based on what we know about Nuss, I feel like his “ballin out swag” style will continue. And based on what we saw and Kelly’s comments, Brennan will probably look similar to what he did as well. Probably lighter and more mobile. But still hard to judge with zero physical threat and minimal attacking.

Daniels, I have no idea. I feel like he’s starting from scratch in some ways because of his footwork change. He may look completely different in the fall.

I feel like Daniels got absolutely no coaching up at ASU. He had great freshman numbers with an NFL wr to pass to but then regressed into the "look at the first read and if not there take off running" mode. That will win some games but not a ton in the SEC. Last year we had Max "Look at the first read and if not there take a sack or throw it out of bounds" Johnson, a slightly different version. I feel that we need someone who can go through the progressions and find the open wr, which I think we will have with the talent we have at that position. Now is our O-line good enough to give MB that time? That remains to be seen. The staff is going to have to look at all the options to give us the best result.

I mean, Kelly may just want the guy who he trusts best with the football. That might be Myles. It’s not like Brennan is Andrew Hatch either. He’s got a great arm.

There’s a loaded backfield, talented receivers, hopefully solid oline. Maybe kelly wants the guy who sees the field the best, thinks the way he wants, and can push the ball down the field. We don’t know. Maybe Myles is our Mac Jones or something

Well, I’m glad I could entertain you coach. Perhaps you could provide some rationale, rather than just complaining, as to what’s going on in the LSU quarterback derby.

Ok. So Garrett Nussmier and Jaydon Saniels have 4 starts between them FOR LSU. Why do you ignore the 29 starts out of 30 games he had for Arizona. That's what I found interesting but disingenuous.

Brennan is also the most accurate QB on the team.

His sacks per PA in 2020 was very similar to Burrows from 2019 - behind a much shittier O-line, and IIRC he had impressive pff scoring against the blitz in 2020

Three games against shite defenses where he went 1-3

According to the draft last night, the modern offense is get the ball to receivers and let them score.
You need a QB that is accurate and doesn't turn it over.
Myles and Nuss seem to have the skill.
If Daniels wants to play in the NFL, he better work on accuracy all off season, or learn to run good routes and switch to WR.
He would be awesome catching the ball and running.

Agreed. Daniels is an athlete who plays the QB position. Other guys are Quarterbacks.

I think he could be a good QB, wish he was a freshman or soph so he could develop under these coaches but right now he’s Emory Jones with more speed. I hope he stays at LSU and puts himself into position to win the job next season or even maybe by summers end because he’s electric as a ball carrier but right now he’s not the passer he needs to be in order for his legs to be that giant threat. If you can’t back people off with your arm your mobility is going to be nullified in the SEC.

Either Brennan or Nuss will be the starter. I personally favor Nuss. He just seems to have so much poise and the it factor.

As opposed to a strong passer having to work on escapability mechanics and mental aspect of being a better runner of the ball

Jayden Daniels IS a very solid passer. Prove that wrong.

3 of 9. 2 of the 3 completions required great to unbelievable plays by the receivers.
