Hot take: Jordy knocked up Rivers and that's why they aren't at Gauranty and are making their own show.

poor tbob is just a sitting duck. If they continue to need to cut costs he will get axed next. Hes a nice guy but not the most talented radio personality.

Not sure why anyone producing great content would leave YouTube

nothing too juicy, guaranty making cuts across the board due to COVID

If Guaranty was making cuts, why are they advertising for a replacement host on OTB?

This could turn into a really good situation for Jordy, as he can sell live reads to advertisers he knows and ALSO double-dip on the YT ad machine if his channel starts getting enough views.

The problem he needs to solve is how to pivot. He is either going to be creating a "radio morning show" like he used to do but on the YT platform, at which point his existing advertisers likely fit, but the YT viewership might not grow enough ... OR ... he is going to create a YT-type show that will look and feel a bit more like Pat Macafee at which point his existing advertisers might not fit. If he targets more of a YT audience he needs to skew younger in both advertisers and content.

Well, the majority of people aren't conservative, so probably.

speaking of this, I sent Cody Worsham a DM calling him out on this very topic. I in no way will defend the action of the girl. She deserves to face the consequences for her actions but there was no reason that adults should have made that girl go viral for decisions she made as a 16 or 17 year old.

I get what you're saying but how much longer can we use the "teens will be teens" thing? At her age, nearly an adult, she is extremely aware of the consequences of ones actions. 10 years ago, maybe not, but with how tapped into everything these kids are, she knew what she was doing.

I’m pulling for Jordy, and wish him a very successful new show. I’ll be listening from day 1.

I was trying to give you some background knowledge based upon experience about what Jordy is undertaking on YouTube, and nobody seemed to like it. OK, whatever.

You guys are throwing around Pat McAfee as a template for Culotta's show to follow, as if you're expecting it to grow into the success that McAfee has had, and that's crazy, frankly. His show has 1.23 MILLION subscribers. His daily viewer numbers are around 100,000.

YouTube creators get roughly 1 to 3 CENTS per click, or $3-5 per 1,000 views. Just do the math.

It's much more revenue effective to post several, say, 10-minute segments per day than one 90-minute one. Again, it's all math, and the odds favor the YouTube house.

I'm not the enemy. I'm pulling for Jordy.

He's going to have to be patient and play the long game and hope his little enterprise catches on. But even then, with a local-based show, he's probably not going to make half as much money as he was earning at 104.5 ESPN.

Working from home, this is perfect. Unfiltered and I can fire it up on the Echo Show on my desk and listen in and glance at the screen if something really interesting comes up.

Yeah, but here's the thing: the direct revenue from YouTube is only one stream. He will have direct advertisers as well. It will be slow at first, but if they can stick with it long enough to pick up enough subscribers, they could do quite well. There are some podcasts that I watch on YouTube that come on in other markets during the day, but I catch the recorded show at night. This format has the potential to cast the net for viewers far beyond the Baton Rouge market.

Believe me, I'm not Gordy. Or even Moscona.

I've just been involved with podcast and videocast ventures before, and I've had to deal with YouTube and some of the other internet streams, and I know how daunting the struggle is to make a viable living from it.

The sponsors are going to have to be in it for the long haul. But it's a tough ask for the sponsors. It's like asking them to take on an additional employee (or 2 or 3).

Hopefully, Jordy's show will grow, but it's a longshot whether it ever has any audience reach beyond Louisiana. His initial sponsors are local.

I think the "secret" set doesn't do the show any favors, either. Wood paneling?
