B+. Its almost like people forgot we were an NIT team last year. We are lookimg to be the same this year. Obviously we dont have hamilton, but the progress of JOB and Tuba and Hickey is evident

No offense but WRONG(A-, B+), A+ , Plus Bonus points. Hamilton was a big loss, and Del, although greatly improved, is no Hamilton.

A+ I am so thankfull he is our coach. Wait till his recruits come in!

B. Some of his in game decisions early on were questionable, especially considering he is a completely different "game coach" of late.

and.....who gets credit for coaching these guys up?

Besides saying last year's team was an NIT team as is this one so things aren't that much improved. First of all, last year's team was supposed to be an NCAA tourney team. This year's roster looked like a complete mess for a little while after Trent left, Jones has done a remarkable job not only keeping us competitive, but a winning record in the SEC. Secondly, the product on the court is just flat out better than the previous regime's.

Hell, I didn't even mention recruiting, a top 3 class without having won a thing yet? Come on.

A+

I added to my post, I think you're underrating the job he's done. He's completely changed the make up of this program in less than a year, we looked like a complete and utter mess after Trent.

The results are similar to last year, but the way we are doing it is better. We have only lost 1 SEC game by more than 10 points. Last season we lost 6 games by more than 10. We are in every game and we play harder.

Another big cuddos: bringing in Charles Carmouche. Dude has become a team leader and straight up baller. He may very well be a sleeper draft pick with the way he's played as of lately, developing consistency and willing his team to victories.

Fair point about recruiting. I thought this was only relating to on the court performance. If we add in recruiting, he gets an A. I also know the product on the court looks better, but i try not to let the looks of it effect my opinion.

I think on a tournament resume, you look at W's and L's, but when you are talking about progress, it's much more than wins and losses. Everyone knew this was a rebuilding year, and I think he has performed very well for the situation.

Team discipline?

Yes...turnovers, free throw percentage, defensive breakdowns, stupid fouls...In my basketball vernacular, that goes under the category of "discipline".

Yeah, i guess the question is are we talking about how johnny has done with this lsu team or lsu the program. For me, the program grade will be better, but I think he also has had a good season up till this point. If only they didnt fall so flat when SEC play started

I was just thinking this the other day. Every successful LSU team in my lifetime (I don't count the Shaq years, I was still shitting my diapers then)has come out of seemingly nowhere without any preseason hype.
