So, we fired an overachieving coach
He was fired for not keeping up with the lsu standard HE SET.
If miles set the standard of success for lsu coaches,he did not underachieve.
There are so few coaches that can recruit at the highest level and coach at the highest level. Thats what makes them the best coaches in cfb.

And if we're a "football school" why are you even comparing JJ to Les?
I wasnt. I was saying milles didnt belong in the same bad category as johnny jones.

However, his last 5 years were disappointing and underachieving
Saban's tenure at lsu = 16 losses 12 conf losses, 2 10 win seasons, 2 top 15 finishes in a shite sec west.
Miles last 5 years= 15 losses 12 conf losses 4 10 win seasons( counting mcneese),3 top 15 finishes in the most talent rich division in cfb
Were you disappointed in Saban's tenure?

It's hard to ignore the similarities between Miles and Jones' shortcomings.
Only if you have no idea how hard it is to average 10 wins for a decade in the hardest division in cfb.

They have more in common than one might like to admit.
They both coached at lsu and thats about it.

After Ben Simmons and no postseason play, i knew JJ was finished. I also realized LSU doesn't respect basketball season ticket holders and therefore, didn't renew my tickets after being a longtime supporter. The only way to get LSU's attention is to not give them money until they hire a worth a shite AD.

Please change your handle to "Miles Apologist". Every thread is the same.
Comparing Saban to Miles is similar to comparing Miles to Jones.

And no one cares what you think. It's a message board where people voice their opinions. Maybe you should just not read the board or post.

To compare Saban's time here with Les's straight-up completely ignores the factor of initial conditions.
Saban took over a program that had only 3 winning seasons ('95-'97) in its previous 10, i.e., almost on life-support. Les inherited a program that had won 2 SEC titles in the last four, was 1 season removed from a natty, and was arguably the healthiest program in CFB.
So when posters want to compare the two and ignore the initial conditions, just ignore them as well.

Yea, WE do because most of US think the same thing!

JJ is by far the worse coach on campus. Our club sports have better coaching than men's bball.

GoodOleLess, JJ, John Brady, Trent Richardson, all tremendous hires and careers in Baton Rouge . Some of the most under appreciated coaches in America.

On a serious note, Miles would probably be a better head basketball coach than CJJ.

Maybe, at least Miles delegated defensive responsibilities.

Trent Johnson not Trent Richardson.

Miles took over a worse situation at Oklahoma state(1 winning season in 14 years)and had them winning 9 games and getting multiple top 25 classes.

bullshite. We had 1 top 5 finish in years.
In 2004 miami,Oklahoma, usc, fsu and ohio state were all far more healthy than lsu. If lsu was in such a healthy state how did the best coach of our generation(saban)lose 3 games in year 5 of his tenure?

I was comparing miles' last 5 years. You know the years where all these lsu fans say he ran lsu into the ground?
Lets not even take into account that during Saban's tenure the sec west was fricking putrid. 3 losses won the west.
In 5 years only 2 west programs had top 10 finishes. At lsu saban never once faced another sec program that would go on to even play in the bcs title game, let alone win it.
The over romanticization of the Saban tenure needs to stop. We lost to inferior teams every year under saban just like we did under miles.
I thank him for everything he did for LSU but he screwed us in the end with the way he left.
And for the record, saban took over a program that was 2 years removed from back to back 10 win seasons and was littered with future nfl players.
To act like this wasnt the case is utter ignorance.
Yes miles took over a better lsu program and ive never said otherwise but this notion that saban took over a shite and talentless roster is fricking stupid.

Thats doesnt change anything. Saban took over a worse lsu while coaching in a shite sec. We lost to an inferior team every year under saban.just like miles.
Miles last 5 years have a better win loss record than Saban's tenure at lsu and it in a sec west where 6 west programs have had a top 10 finish.

Miles 1st 3 years at Oklahoma state after taking over a program with 1 winning season in the previous 14 years= 16 losses
Saban taking over lsu that is 2 years removed from back to back 10 win seasons= 12 losses
Just some huge difference.

We lost to three top 10 teams in 2004. Two in the final seconds and both included bad calls on the game deciding plays. Considering the QB situation, that wasn't a bad year.
