I think he has to go. If he passes up this shot, he may not have another one. As a Senior, draft stock typically goes down. He could come back and have a great season improving his draft stock, but the risk is HUGE!
I wish he could've had a full, healthy three years. Either way, best of luck to him.

no you can't

Ok, you just took a guy that hasn't come close to proving he can hit and gave him a check for hitting because he has the "potential" to. I'll just take a guy that can hit and has little power and give him a check for power because he could possibly hit for power down the road.

for one, dishon had 8 extra base hits out of his 13 total, 4 being homeruns. i think that shows he can hit for power. he hit .300+ in his summer ball last year, so that shows he CAN hit for average. so what exactly were you saying again?

lester you laughed at me saying that he will get drafted just a few weeks ago didnt you? thought so. Also Johnny will be a great player when the plate discipline is learned, and i guarantee you that no one will work harder than he does when he gets where he's going. Mark my word now you will see Johnny D move a lot faster through the minors then people are thinking.

I think the point people on here are trying to make is that the intangibles Dishon has are what make him valuable in the draft. Obviously he wasn't drafted based on his numbers this year. Dishon learning to hit won't necessarily mean him all of the sudden hitting .350, but with his speed he can be extremely productive learning discipline at the plate and increasing his OBP. That is why he can have a below average year, with minimal playing time, and still be drafted.

Proof that the draft could give a frick about statistics. Good for Johnny. I just wish he could have been an every day player here. He's the fastest guy on the team, according to Maineiri.

i laughed cause i figured you were trying to say he would be drafted early and leave.

i figured he would be drafted. Ive seen much worse players get drafted.

you also thought Demetrius Byrd would be a pro bowler by now. You talk up any player that u may know personally.

im sorry, but u just dont learn plate discipline over night

It shows he hit for power in that particular small sample size. But if you insist on using it, he also hit .213 which hurts your next point.

And how deeply did you look into that impressive .304 Valley league average? It wouldn't be at all surprising if he hit much lower than that if he went and played in the same exact league this year. He hit a few homeruns and doubles, but had a shitload of strikeouts. His BABIP was probably in the .450-.500 neighborhood which is a bit of a fluke and impossible to maintain.

But with all that being said, your original response to me was....

quote:

potential and ability are not the same thing as production

So, what were you saying again?

I'm saying he has the talent to exceed very well at any of the 5 tools, just like most people ITT, but you seem more concerned with shitting on a player on the team you're supposed to like

I don't disagree that the guy has some talent and it isn't surprising that he got drafted. I'm only disagreeing with the 5 tool term. Like I said, I think it is thrown around too often.

I don't know if Mahtook would project as plus but I think it would at least be above average.

No on Dean and Gaudet.
