Both coached took over in bad situations. Both were left with very poor rosters and looming NCAA sanctions

Year one Brady 9-18, 2-14
Year two Brady 12-15, 4-12
Year three Brady 28-6, 12-4 SEC title
Stromile Swift and Jabari Smith led the way.

Year one MM 14-16, 2-14
Year two MM 5-4 ??, ??????
Year three MM ???????

So far MM is doing about what Brady did, but keep in mind MM had a huge advantage in that there is the transfer portal and there is NIL

It’s too early to render judgment on McMahon, but it’s obvious our administration put the program back to where we were when Brown was fired.

There are no looming sanctions and the talent level currently on the team dwarfs what Brady had in his first 2 seasons.

From 3/13/22
quote:

The LSU men's basketball program compiled seven Level I violations and a Level II violation in a notice of allegations obtained by ESPN on Saturday, and includes allegations that are extensive, detailed and portray brazen attempts by coach Will Wade and his staff to break the rules. The notice alleges that Wade cheated even after knowing he'd be in the crosshairs when the federal basketball investigation came to light in 2017.

John Brady's teams actually tried and gave a frick his first two years.

I get the record comparisons but it really ends at that. It is fricking insulting to compare McMahon to John Brady as a coach and as a motivator. Brady had energy unlike McMahon. We are fricking doomed.

Not to mention, McMahon has an incredibly difficult SEC and amazing SEC coaches to deal with.

No question the two have completely different personalities, but you have to admit they have quite as bit in common. Both came from mic majors, and both took over LSU in very tough spots.

I agree, the SEC is better now than when Brady came. I agree his style gave folks hope, in fact I gave up my season tickets when Dale tanked the program only to get them back in Brady’s second year.

FWIW, I gave up my tickets under Trent got them back for Wade and gave them back this year.

This sentence right here shows why no one likes any journalist anywhere. They are all losers and no one should believe a word they say.

You can GTFO with this bullshite.

I wasn’t a Brady Roller coaster fan. Long time posters here know that. I wanted some consistency for the program. My bad, we got it now. Bottom dwelling.

It’ll take CoachMc 4 seasons to win 10 SEC games total.

We could literally pick someone off this web site to coach and 11 guys from a MBB REC league and get better results MM is a garbage coach

I just think McMahon deserves as much time as needed because he has such a good family.

McMahon is never going to win and people who actually watch basketball know this. The problem is when he’s fired the next guy may not be any better. Our admin has zero basketball people and McMahon was hired on a recommendation from an outside source so we have no plan and no vision when it comes to what we want basketball to be.

I heard his brother throws back beers like a true Louisiana baw. That alone should allow him to live out his contract.

I think that LSU’s brass has never been serious about hiring a home run when it came down to men’s basketball. I guess being a football school has discouraged AD’s to just fill the basketball coaching position with just about anyone.

Despite Brady’s record his first two years, the improvement was obvious. They played solid defense , took good shots , and were fundamentally sound. He just needed talent.
