re: Joel Klatt : "Freeman took the job Kelly ran from and elevated it past where he had it"

Kelly made the 4 team playoff and played for a national championship. Freeman has made the semifinals. So far freeman hasn’t done anything Kelly didn’t do.

Two words….. NORTHERN ILLINOIS!

A lot of people don’t realize but Freeman hasn’t done anything that Kelly hasn’t done.
Brian Kelly has never beaten top 10 teams back to back.
Kelly also hasn't won a major bowl game.

He hasn't even done that yet, unless I'm missing something. BK took his team to the NC game. ND will have to win one more to get there.
On that same note, Brian Kelly hasn’t done anything more or even equal to what Ed Orgeron has done at LSU. We’ll see if he can eventually get there.

This is simply a case of Brian Kelly not being a likable guy and over the media over-inflating the relevance of the Notre Dame job. Which, makes it even worse as its Joel Klatt being a 12 year old girl. The media did the same thing to Saban when he lied about not leaving the Dolphins.
No one is eviscerating Lane Kiffin for leaving Tenn and Josh Heupel having them in the playoffs this year.

Neither had freeman until the 12 team playoff. Some of yall are fricking retarded. We get it, you don’t like Kelly

Don’t care about the comparisons. Only thing I care about is LSU getting into the playoffs and competing.

He might never.
Notre Dame might fall off a cliff next year.
Was just comparing the situations each coach inherited.

ND offense got 9 points against Georgia. 3 field goals. One TD was from 7 yards after a Ga. fumble. Other TD was a 98 yard kick return. If Georgia had it's starting QB the game isn't close. And if Ga coaches weren't idiots they win even with a backup. ND had an easy path. Might lose to P State but will get killed in the final game if not. They are a 7-5 SEC team.

Read a Sports Illustrated article about Kellys 12 years at ND. Said overall good job but couldn't get the winning culture. They have that now with Marcus Freeman.
I don't feel that winning vibe, swagger and bring the wood attitude I always had.
Huh? Kelly literally gave ND their winning culture. He took over a non-winning program that had won just 1 bowl game in the previous 15+ years and he had them in the national championship game in his 3rd year on the way to winning the most games in ND history. He gave them a consistent winning culture that they didn't have for nearly 2 decades. Retarded article if it said what you claimed.
Now, I do think Freeman has done a great recovery job this year after losing to Northern Illinois at Notre Dame. Any other year, ND would have been eliminated from contention right there. But because of the 12-team playoff, they are still alive and playing well. I like how they play too and Freeman outcoached Kirby in the playoff game. I think they have a fair chance against Penn St. too. His first two years were disappointments based on the program he was left with that won 54 games in BK's last 5 years there, but he is doing a great job this year.
What Kelly had to do there was way more difficult though. He turned them back into a consistent winner in a time when there was no transfer portal. Freeman took over a winning program averaging 10-11 wins per year and just needed to bring it to the next level in the time of the portal and 12-game playoff. If he can win it all though, then he'll deserve a lot of praise.

Saying Georgia has a bunch of idiot coaches is a new one to me... I guess everyone who doesn't coach for LSU has no idea what they are doing.

Without their starting QB. In the old format, UGA would’ve been left out of the playoffs for that very reason. Stop beating your chest over bullshite

The original comment was "Freeman hasn’t done anything that Kelly hasn’t done"
That's clearly untrue.
Somehow Freeman doing something in his third year coaching that Kelly hasn't managed to do in his 22 years of coaching FBS football is irrelevant.
Listen to yourself.
"Yeah? Well Freeman didn't do any of that either until he literally JUST did it. Suck on that!"

Mike must’ve been better than Saban since he went 34-6 in his first 3 seasons at LSU and won a national title in year 3 vs Saban in year 4 at LSU.
Coach is a better coach than Saban too since he won one in year 3.
This is stupid. Freeman took over a team ranked #5, #8 and #5 in the 3 years prior to him taking over and after three years has them at #5 again. He has had the likely easiest schedule in ND history this year going into the playoffs and the got a joke of a team in the playoff in Indiana and a depleted UGA team that was beat up and had a month layoff.
Freeman also lost to a MAC team at home during this easiest schedule in ND history.

Brian Kelly played in the national championship game with them when it was harder to get to it so whatever.
