I think play calling was great in the 1st half. Tried to run some and it showed the weak points of our OL and hopefully that gets fixed or you play to their strengths like pulling guards and getting some lateral movements. Between tackles does seem like it will be an option much.

I'm not sure where Lacy went in the 2nd half. There 2 drives in the 4th that were bad play calling and leaning on the run too much. Those were really bad. I feel better about the offense than the defense. The defense play calling was bad on that last drive. Rush 3 and let Moss tear you apart was bad.

Passing game good enough

That’s an understatement. Nussmeier looked awesome. He missed that one pass that would’ve probably resulted in a TD on the drive but the game should not have been decided by that drive.

Nussmeier is going to be great.

Denbrock got 20 vs AM with a much higher rated QB coming into game. Daniel’s bailed him out on plays that sucked. He looked like a genius.

Yes, however we tried to run between the tackles lots.

Between and never around. I woulda loved to see a jet sweep. I guess Sloan or BK couldn’t think of that concept though.

Had to be Sloan. I mean Kelly was pounding his fist on the table about lack of killer instinct.?? Surely he isn’t being hypocritical.

Great assessment. The highly predictable runs up the middle into their strength and over dependence on Lacy and Taylor were beyond frustrating. It seemed that everyone except Kelly and Sloan knew that was not going to work

1. The RBs scare NO ONE. Love the guy, but Josh Williams looks like he regressed badly (most likely due to bad OL push, but Emery found room).

2. Use your strengths, WRs are plentiful, run some sweeps with them.

3. You HAVE to know your interior OL is weak, stop trying to run up the gut and scheme your guys to success.

I am tired of our guys looking unmotivated and weak at the season start. S&C has dropped off the cliff.

LSU should not run any 12 personnel this season with those three tight ends

just dont have the blocking TE for it unless they convert a OT or promote one of the walk ons like they did last season

LSU TBs looked slow, needed more Jackson carries

Nuss is our best offensive weapon, need to let him eat

Lacy not getting one touch in the second half is fricking ridiculous

Some stuff was on Sloan, but given the fact BK and the whole team were talking nonstop about pounding the ball into the dirt, I think that directive comes from the top.

He was the ultimate “older QB that managed the game”well

People fall in love with the 300 yards passing but with the amount of space USC purposefully gave last night it didn’t mean much

I truly am looking for average air yards per completion. I think there is a chance it was sub 4

Even in his post game Kelly was vehement that running the ball that much was the right decision and that wasn’t the issue.

When he says “we lacked killer instinct on offense” he’s mad that the OL got blown up. But that’s the whole problem. He can’t or won’t contemplate running your normal passing offense with a lead and going for a td to seal the game. In his antiquated dinosaur brain that has more in common with Les Miles than this board would like to admit, he thinks you have to run the ball to see a game out. That’s it end of story

Yup. That’s what’s extremely concerning.

Kelly made him run the ball… it’s that simple

Who cares if that was working? The issue wasn’t the short passing game it was trying to shoehorn in a run game. That 2019 team would do that often towards the end of the year. Just 5 yard passes on repeat until the defense finally moved safeties up or spread out linebackers to open up the middle for runs. Kelly just won’t commit to it because he’s a dinosaur and thinks you have to run the football.

I don’t think we had a single set of downs where we passed on first down where we didn’t get the first. Every single stop came when we ran on first down. That’s the story of the game on offense.

we scored only 20 points against possibly the worst defense in all of p5 last year

Our offense wasn’t working….Yards don’t mean shite. Can you press the ball downfield is what’s going to be needed to actually score TDs

If you think constantly having 14 play TD drives is sustainable it isn’t

Because we abandoned the passing game to try to establish the run. Again we didn’t have a single set of downs where we failed to get a first if we passed on first down. Every single stop was when we got stuffed on first down run and put us behind in down and distance.
