I saw McKnight at the Susan Park gym in Kenner this week. I don't think he got his degree from USC, so not really sure what the hell he's doing these days. I imagine his life after football would've been much more pleasant in this area had he attended LSU. Oh well.

What happened to that career in sports broadcasting that he was pursuing at USC?

Not the only Curtis player not to pan out.
They seem to play the best at Curtis.

I will say Dupre has a very high ceiling.

I actually credit JT for the way his players handle recruiting. They don't commit early, they weigh their choices and don't commit until it's official and final. Probably the best way to handle it in this day and age when it's become such a spectacle.

Futhermore, you can't bash McKnight for the way he handled his recruiting and signing. Who wouldn't want to follow Bush and the way that USC program was at the time. Plus if I remember right, LSU was pretty stacked at RB anyway. So even though he left LSU didn't miss a beat.

Curious how he would've been as a corner at LSU

He didn't recruit McKnight. Reggie Bush did.

While Coach O was at Ole Miss he helped recruit him to USC. He knew he wasn't coming to Ole Miss so he wanted him out of the SEC West.

do people really believe this?

NFL player, local star in the community.... let's not act like he has no prospects because he didnt go to LSU. That's fricking dumb.

Who said he had no prospects? I said his life would've been much more pleasant, and considering the amount of business owners/decision makers in this area that are LSU fans (especially relative to USC fans), I think you're pretty fricking dumb for thinking otherwise. Are you naive enough to think that his non-football job prospects are as good now as they would have been had he gone to LSU?

still trying to play football

Not sure if that's ever going to happen with any consistency. He wasn't on a team for the entire 2013 season and tore his achilles in 2014. When he was playing, he wasn't anything special. Didn't he have fumble problems in the NFL and at USC? Seems like he did kind of find a niche on special teams.

McKnight biggest mistake was playing running back. If he played DB he would still be in the league.

McKnight is no Fournette.

Had Joe McKnight come to LSU, his career could have been way different. Maybe it wouldn't have, but I suspect he would have a much better opportunity to excel under Les Miles' offense.

Joe's style really did emulate Reggie Bush and fit in well with what USC did offensively. If you look at the RBs that have excelled at LSU under Miles, there's a pretty common theme:

Hester - 6'0 224
Scott - 6'0 234
Ridley - 6'0 223
Hill - 6'2 235
Fournette - 6'1 230

McKnight - 6'0 190

He would've played at LSU, but he isn't really an LSU kind of back under Les. He probably compares closest to Addai from a physical standpoint, but they aren't the same type of player.

Joe McKnight and Landon Collins are both dead to me.

McKnight would have done nothing at LSU, due to his love for fumbling the ball. Les Miles would have kept him on the bench.

USC had no problems with Joe's fumble-itis, since they have a want to lose multiple games to underdogs every season.

The way that McKnight handled the whole recruiting process screamed "headcase". I'm glad he didn't come to LSU.

USC had like 10 high school All Americans at running back when Mcknight committed. I don't think I'm exaggerating either.

It's hard to say what JM would have done at LSU, but he was an absolute beast in HS. Loved watching that kid play, esp against Hoover. I agree with the other posters in that he would have probably been a better pro at DB.

We don't really care what he is doing.......just as long as he never gets a job in Louisiana.

Who cares?

Best of luck to McKnight in football (if he still plays) and in life.

Following his recruiting is what drew me to TD, so it isn't a total loss (at least for me).

JT Curtis is not a big LSU proponent

that's going to change quickly as he is now part of the catholic league and no longer a big fish in a small pond.

He should have been a cb. I got bashed for saying that he would be more valuable there when he was a junior in high school. He was an awesome football player and did well at USC. He is still one of the most talented athletes to ever come from Louisiana.

Frank Wilson guaranteed Orgeron that McKnight would sign with Ole Miss. I doubt Orgeron would undermine his assistant like that.
