I saw a post on the Cincinnati Bengals Reddit from an alleged Bama band member stating he was behind the LSU bench right before half time in Tuscaloosa. He said it was amazing how calm and collected Joe Burrow was after scoring again with 30 seconds left in the first half.

"Everybody was going nuts. I remember Moss, Jefferson, and others on the offense going nuts and Moss yelled out, "Joe, you did it! We did it! We're going to beat Alabama!" And Joe popped him right in the pads and stared everybody down. He said , "No not yet. You talk like that, thats how you lose to Alabama. We haven't won until fourth ends. Don't get ahead of yourselves." "

"Seeing LSU win hurt and it sucked. A lot. I kept thinking back to that moment and it made me so excited as a Bengals fan...that determination and focus by Joe made me a fan for life"

The heart of a champion y'all. I can't wait to see Joe play at the next level.

Not as cool, but similarly pre SEC Championship I was behind the gate on field level (Atlanta club level has a field level section - humble brag I guess), and immediately prior to the game when the sideline is getting pumped and all the hoopla is going on, Joe emerges from the crowd to his OL sitting on the bench and bends over to them calm dead stare with a fist pump, "Hey guys, we're going to win the game." Was cool.

I don't really believe this story.

1. how fricking close is this guy? Come one

2. Burrow never lacked confidence and he never would have said we could lose. He was pointing at his ring finger with a full quarter to go against Clemson.

Normally I'd say no way he could actually hear all of that. But it sure was quiet in that stadium after that TD

He still wouldn’t let his boys say we’re gonna beat Alabama when it’s not even halftime. Which if the offense would have let the foot off the pedal at all we would have let them back in the game and maybe win it

He is uber confident but I could definitely see him telling Moss to cool his jets in that situation

He said he was right behind the LSU bench just before halftime and that he is a member of the Alabama band, which would have been on the sidelines. He could have been standing close enough to hear.

I'm as much of a skeptic as anyone but don't really know the motivation for someone to post that if it were purely a fabrication.

I wouldn't be surprised if some version of this story happened, but that bolded part doesn't sound like anything an athlete would say before halftime of a game.

I disagree.

We were up 33-13 at the half. Those kids were playing their game against the toughest opponent they had played up to that point, with their emotions out the wazoo. I can totally see them saying something along the lines of this after Clyde caught that touchdown pass.

Am partial to the description by the distraught Oklahoma blogger who called him a Cyborg.

If it was anyone else I wouldn’t believe it. But the band would be on the field behind the players benches getting ready for the half time show. So he very well could have been within a yard or two and heard that with ease.
