I didn't notice this until Paul Finebaum said it, but Burrow is completing 49.1% of his passes. That's not what I thought we were getting with Burrow.

Danny Etling, Anthony Jennings, Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee, and Mettenberg all posted better numbers.

Hopefully, it gets better.

On another note, Lanard Fournette got the first handoff of the season if I recall coreectly and I haven't seen him in much action since....That seems odd...

WRs need to stop dropping perfect passes.

It shows me how much room for improvement we have in the offense. Joe has obviously been very cautious with his throws and tossed it away under pressure which will lower the percentage but I’d still like to see it over 60%. Drops haven’t helped either.

young receivers seem to drop good passes. I remember OBJ could barely catch his first year. They will get better and his % will go up. Not sure why anyone is fixated on this statistic so much. LSU is still a running team.

Our OL is different every week, our receivers drop perfectly thrown balls and Joe throws it away instead of forcing a potential INT.

He has also been on the team for 3 months.

People need to breathe.

We have had so many dropped passes that were in the face mask that you can’t accurately say how he is doing. At the end of the day we are 4-0 with a banged up O-Line and a mountain of upward potential on offense.

Because it matters and we’re a good not great running team.

We’re not blowing the doors off people on the ground we need to catch the fricking ball.

And OBJ dropped a few passes his Soph year, not his freshmen year. He was solid in 2011.

His season averages are pretty much in the toilet at this point, mostly due to a poor start statistically. It's worth looking at his game by game progression at this point. He was solid against LA Tech. He'll need to keep that up and the season averages will fall where they may.

If you take away dropped passes, balls knocked down, throw aways, passes defended and missed throws Burrow's completion percentage jumps to 100%.

You have to look at the whole picture.

He received a catch on the first play from scrimmage for the LSU offense this season. But the other poster's comment is still valid, why hasn't he played more?

No offense meant, but how have you missed that? It’s been the biggest talking point about LSU’s offense and Burrow all season.

-dropped passes
-shaky pass protection
-smart throwaways
-arguably too many deep low percentage balls thrown
-arguably not enough short high percentage passes thrown

= Burrow below 50%

His completion percentage has less to do with Burrow than it does with those around him, including the OC.

IMO, Burrow is the least of our concerns on offense. We’re good at QB. Offensive line is the biggest concern right now. WR is a smaller concern, but nothing to hit the panic button over yet. Overall offensive Scheme is still a concern as well... while I’m rooting for SE to have success, we’d be lying to ourself if we didn’t at least acknowledge the possibility that our offensive staff just doesn’t have the capability of fielding a successful offense.

The problem is, we're a decent running team, not a great one. This oline and RBs are not going to carry the team against UGA and BAMA. We need better performance in the passing game.

This happens to every team/QB in the country. Same with throwing the ball away. Those excuses can be used for everyone, so they don't explain all of the struggles.

That being said, I don't think Burrow is as inaccurate as his completion percentage would suggest. I simply think our offensive scheme makes playing QB more difficult than most.

Got this from another thread on this board:

"Burrow had his finest game under fire as a Tiger, showing real improvement when defenders got to him.

Joe Burrow under pressure:

First 3 games: 2 of 19, 11 yards, 25.0% adjusted completion

vs. La Tech: 7 of 12, 61 yards, 88.9% adjusted completion"
