One thing is for sure...he'll have experience in a league with horrible officiating.

Glad to see Coach O going outside the box and not hiring some old crony. The offense has long needed a fresh, young mind, so I don't mind taking a chance with a position coach here under a vet coordinator's oversight.

Joe Brady...future OC for the Dallas Cowboys when Sean Payton is hired, once Jason Garrett is fired in 3 years. Calling it now!

Seriously, Brady was a 2-time academic All-American at William & Mary, so he has it mentally. Let's see what happens or even if O allows him to make any changes offensively.

His scouting and recruiting has been phenomenal

His coverage teams have been great

His return teams leave something to be desired but that could be a personal issue. I still Think we just forced Giles into a spot to try and get something out of the guy. He was bad.

New rules, k/o returns were rare. Punt returns were non existent but possession was ok

Everything else we improved, but you don't care about that.

Got a kicker that could kick. Which won us games, but we couldn't return kicks, which lost us games.

Actually the kicker contacted him.

To their credit, he and O made the call to give him a one year deal, but they didn’t go out and find him.

They did find a guy to kick into the endzones, though, which has been refreshing.

Although I’ve questioned before whether or not we actually gained anything in average starting field position with that strategy. Honestly I’m not sure we did and if so it was likely negligible.

So kickoff returns were a non factor, couldn’t get anyone prepped to return a punt after fielding it, but “everything else” improved??

I suppose you mean field goals, which were great, by the guy that was so ready he was offered a one year deal because of how little work he needed.

Kickoffs, again, until someone shows me data on average starting field position, I’m considering that a push. Although admittedly I hated that fricking corner kick bullshite under Miles

My biggest fear, is that maybe this guy is a guru, and some of his concepts E either doesn't understand, agree with or be willing to change to. Ofcourse that's never happened here...

Every coach that has ever coached with or against Ensminger has mentioned his knowledge of the game. He's probably forgotten more than Brady has learned. Ensminger also has yet to show that he's unwilling to change and adapt. You're punishing the current staff for the previous staff's failures.

Didn't E say something like he wouldn't have changed anything about the way he coached this season?

I'm sure he's very knowledgable but the game passes everyone by at some point. Depth of knowledge isn't what keeps you in the game. It's the adapting and application of current trends that keeps you in the game.

LSU was 13th or 14th nationally in avg KO returns or somewhere in that area

New rules, chief. They were rarely a factor anywhere

Kickoffs, FGs, punting, punt coverage, k/o coverage all were very good

1 phase was subpar out of like 6 that encompass special teams. That is an excellent year

Plus went out and recruited the best kicker in the nation. McMahon has been an asset

Very pleased with McMahon this past season. That was an outstanding hire.

Why would he? Outside of the drops by receivers the offense improved over the course of the season. Coach Ensminger also showed the ability to adapt to his players except for the Bama game (which is all most people bitching care about anyway.)

Working with Brees, Payton, Carmichael, and the rest of the Saints' staff is a huge knowledge builder. I'm sure Brady had input on certain areas but I'd think he did more learning than anything. I really like that he's seen the inside of how the Saints use Ingram and Kamara together. Don't forget that he also worked under James Franklin with Saquon Barkley in the backfield. I think this kid is going to help a whole lot, assuming the staff trusts his ideas and the players can grasp them.
