Except it’s also the Orgeron hire. The man has a horrendous losing record except for two stints as interim coach, so basically proven to be a rah rah guy with no ability to handle a program on his own. It was and still is a fricking joke.

2/3

Coach Jones was not a bad hire. Thinks didn't work out well, but it was talent as well as circumstances outside Coach Jones' control.

Trent Johnson was the hire that was problematic.

I don't want this thread to evolve into a Coach Jones evaluation thread. But, he is my friend and I will defend him when need be.

Alleva gets much maligned, but most of it is not warranted.

I think there is some truth to this but I would say that some is not warranted. Most of it is, I think.

If, like me, you don't like the Orgeron hire, whether it is a good hire is up in the air.

No, it isn't up in the air. It may work out, but it was a bad hire based on what Joe knew when he hired him. No real search took place and that makes it a bad hire.

BINGO
Well, in fairness, basketball used to help pay some bills but it has been a long time since LSU was consistent in BBall and several ADs share the blame there.

Please understand that I'm not a Coach Orgerson fan. But, if he is successful, it would be a good hire.

Results are what count.

What's wrong with that? I wish more of our legislators were "do nothings." Sometimes, the best approach is to let others do their job.

What's wrong with that is when you're greatest skill is not getting involved and you declare "I am the search" for the most important position in your Athletic Department.

Bad decisions occasionally work out but that doesn't suddenly make them good decisions. This was a bad decision that most of us hope will turn out well.

What in the hell makes you think most colleges would love to have Joe as their AD? Is this is a joke?

He made one good basketball hire. What about the ones he hired before Wade?

I agree. But, if Orgeron does well then his hire will be validated, regardless of the technique used to make it.

It will validate nothing.

If, and it’s a HUGE if, Oregeron is a success, it will mean Alleva got lucky. Nothing more nothing less.

The farce of a coaching search tells you bad Alleva is, regardless of outcome.
