JJets and Chase named #4 CFB Duo of Past Two Decades

Not sure if Germans but Bleacher Report recently made a list of their top CFb Duos since 2000 and a pair of Tigers made the top 5.

I personally think they should have been higher but it is what it is.

Some people shudder at the thought of putting players from the previous season into a conversation about all-time greatness due to a fear of recency bias or something silly like that. But if you're not going to consider sophomore Ja'Marr Chase and junior Justin Jefferson as one of the best wide receiver duos ever, why even have the conversation at all?
LSU's dynamic duo didn't (need to) do much early on in easy wins over Georgia Southern and Northwestern State, but they still combined for at least 100 receiving yards in all 15 games, averaging 221.3 and 2.5 touchdowns. The two went for 310 yards and three scores in the big Week 2 game against Texas. They also lit up Ole Miss for 339 yards and five scores.
What most makes them a legendary duo, though, was what they did in the College Football Playoff. Jefferson was the star against Oklahoma, making 14 catches for 227 yards and four touchdowns. It was Chase's turn to carry the torch in the national championship game against Clemson, scoring twice while gaining 221 yards through the air.
Between those games against two of the four best teams in the nation, Chase and Jefferson had a combined line of 34 receptions, 615 yards and six touchdowns.
Joe Burrow got all the hype as the season was progressing, but the appreciation for Chase and Jefferson should age like a fine wine.
I personally think they should have been higher but it is what it is.

What the hell happened to Stedman Bailey

Man, if Marshall never got hurt I'm not sure Chase wins the award. That being said, Chase and JJ were amazing

don’t know, but i don’t think that duo was even WVU’s best of the last 20 years.
Slaton and White from ‘06ish was better.

Even when Marshall came back and was at full strength, it was clear towards the middle of the season that the passing game ran through Jefferson and Chase. I think Marshall takes some catches away, but 2 and 1 were the studs.
Where Marshall will really thrive next year is being the prime red zone target. I re-watched the Auburn game a few times, and Gary brings up that Ensminger said the main thing they get back with getting Marshall back in the game was a red zone target. He showed that against Georgia and Oklahoma. And if Burrow doesn't get rushed on the 2nd and goal before the Burrow TD run in NCG, Marshall was wide open in the back of the end zone on a crossing pattern.

Maybe I’m SEC-biased but that Arky trio of Run DMC/Felix Jones/Peyton Hillis is one of my favorite backfields ever
They beat us down in ‘07 and would’ve cost us our title had Dave Wannstadt not saved our asses vs West Virginia

I lean towards Auburn's trio of Joe Cribbs, James Brooks and William Andrews.
11 Pro Bowls between them.

Man I forgot just how good Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey were. They were dominant as frick on that WVU team. I remember thinking when they both joined the Rams that they were about to take over the NFL, and then nothing really happened.
I remember a few years ago a story about Bailey getting shot, so that may have messed up his career. I'm unsure if he came back from that or not.
Edit: I just did some research on Stedman Bailey, Damn, I did not realize the shooting was so serious. He was shot twice in the head, but still came out strong even attempting to play in the league again. If anybody has 30 minutes and a couple tears to spare.

And for it to happen at LSU after the last decade.... double, triple, and quadruple insane

Yeah Crabtree was fricking incredible. I really thought he’d wind up being a top 5 WR in the league for most of his career.

No Ronnie brown / Cadillac Williams? #2 and #5 picks in 2005

Go to Stedman's Wiki page; got caught using PEDs and then was shot twice in the head.

I remember him getting shot In the head for the Rams. Although he wasn't anything special before that

what's crazy is they also had Brandon Jacobs on the squad in 2003 just so much talent. Too bad Cadillac got hurt. He would have been a really really good pro. Rushed for almost 1200 as a rookie.
Auburn really has had some incredible running backs come through their program. hell just since 2003 they've had:
Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, Bradon Jacobs, Kenny Irons, Brad Lester, Ben Tate, Onterio McCalleb, Michael Dyer, Trey Mason, Cameron Artis-Payne, Corey Grant, Peyton Barber, Jovon Robinson(until he got kicked off), Kamryn Pettway, Kerryon Johnson... sure they'll have someone else rushing for 1000 next year. My guess is DJ Williams or Tank Bigsby now that Boobie is gone.

Terrace Marshall Jr. in the postseason:
2 TDs against UGA
2 TDs against OU
1 TD against Clemson
2 TDs against UGA
2 TDs against OU
1 TD against Clemson

And don’t forget this was against those stout Big XII defenses too. Imagine if Chase and Jefferson had to compete against those every week.
