I admittedly haven't really seen him play so I'm going off of a general interpretation of what I see in his stats for the last two year.

I get the impression he makes mistakes when he's under pressure. By that I mean long yardage or with his back against his own goal. Plus, he seems to take time adjusting to the defenses I get the impression he throws more mistakes in the 1st and third quarters.

Plus, it seems like he makes more mistakes at HOME than on the road. All of this sounds like mental pressure issues to me. Thinking and reacting well under bad field position and feeling the pressure to perform for the home fans.

These things are fixable. Quite frankly, the slow thinking under pressure might just be the result of Crowton's offense.

No real claims to be right on this, I'm just curious what you guys think.

He doesn't really make mistakes.....

it's the buckling under pressure and/or completely going mentally blank once the ball is snapped.

He has the skills, he just was thrown in way too soon(not his fault). His problems are mental. Going through the guantlet for the last few years will hopefully allow things to slow down for him, but we will all have to see which JJ shows up in Sept.

I see it this way. JJ doesn't make mistakes like many qb's do. Trying to make something happen when nothing is there. JJ's mistakes aren't of the forcing the ball where it shouldn't be. He is just the opposite. He is inclined to run if there is half an opening even if receivers are open. He is more likely to hold on to the ball and take a sack instead of getting rid of it.

Basically other than his running attack he has basically been the qb that does nothing for you but doesn't hurt you.

He is a poor passer, thinks slowly, and panics too much. This leads to him tucking and running way too much. Maybe if they have improved his passing skills he will be more confident in them and rely on them more, but if he stills takes too long to make a decision it won't help. That and every time something goes wrong he pouts and blames someone else for it.

His tendency is to hold onto the ball and take sacks, which is better than Jarrett Lee's tendency of throwing an INT.

I'd call both of those mistakes hahaha.

Exactly. Taking a sack is still a mistake. But it is one that goes down a little easier than, say, a pick six.

For the OP, not sure if you know but our QB for most of 2008 tied the record for pick sixes in a career ... and he did it in a single season.

Uhh last year Lee threw 1 pic in 89 attempts and JJ threw 10 in a little over 210 which breaks down to 1 out of 89 for Lee and 1 out of 21 with JJ which one would you prefer!

Sure, most of his flaws can be coached. Realistically, will they in such a short time? Most likely not. You might see improvements in his game but it is very rare to see a QB take such a huge leap forward in a matter of months. I've seen it before but it is very rare. JJ has too many flaws. Improvement is always nice, so anything is better than nothing.

Yeah, he's usual in that regard.

The Ducks will have a cake walk if LSU is forced to play JJ.

You guys had an elite season in 2010...congrats.
